Helping Your Toddler Try New Foods

One of the best things about having a toddler is that everything is new to them, and they are fully aware of that fast. It’s so much fun seeing them have new experiences and watching how they react to their first sunset or that initial visit to see the monkey at the zoo. Of course, when it comes to food, things are not always so lovely.

Many toddlers, although curious about everything else in the world around them, are less than excited about the prospect of trying new foods that may be unfamiliar to them but if you don’t want to end up with a fussy eater on your hands, you do need to help them experience new foods that they will grow to love.

With that in mind here are some top tips you can use to help your toddler try new foods as often as possible:

Tips for Grocery Shopping with a Toddler

I am a stay-at-home mom and as much as I would love to go grocery shopping by myself, that just isn't realistic for our lifestyle. My daughter is in school, so I usually only have one in tow when I grocery shopping these days. My toddler son. Two of his favorite ways to keep him entertained are toys and snacks.

Tips for Grocery Shopping with a Toddler #GerberWinWin

As soon as we head into our local Publix, we make sure to get the car grocery cart. It's a fun way to keep little ones entertained while grocery shopping. Sometimes we will head over to their bakery department and get a complimentary cookie, but most of the time we head straight to their baby aisle and grab some Gerber® toddler snacks. Our new favorites are the Gerber® Lil’ Beanies™.

My son turned TWO! Where does the time go? His little personality is showing that he has definitely two. Others have told me that it tends to be a boy thing because he can get so aggressive one moment and then so sweet the next. Whatever it is, it's something new for me.

Toddler Teething - AmberPieces Baltic Necklace #Review & #Giveaway

AmberPieces Baltic Amber Teething Necklace Review

SweetPea has been getting her two year old molars, and although slobber and crying are super fun, I had to find another way to help her through this.

Infant Teething Schedule
Found Here

SweetPea's teeth have always come in pairs and her molars have been no different. And although I was sceptic of Baltic Amber Teething Necklaces in the past, I recently received the recent opportunity to let SweetPea try them out. So I figured I would give it another go.

Succinic acid is a naturally occurring component in amber that makes it so effective. Succinic acid is a natural pain reliever, anti-inflammatory, and a central nervous system calmer. It is so effective on babies and small children because it simultaneously eases their pain while also having a strong soothing effect on their nervous system – all with zero side effects!

The beads are meant to be worn against baby’s skin, not chewed, and are worn at a short length so that baby cannot easily grab and pull at the necklaces. The necklaces are meant to break if pulled too tight, to prevent choking, but beads are individually knotted so they don’t all fall from the necklace. While it’s recommended that children don’t wear them at night, a necklace can be wrapped around an ankle and covered with a sock to keep it warmed against baby’s skin, and still effective while they sleep.

AmberPieces

SweetPea loved wearing her necklace and I felt it truly did help. Plus, two Nanny to Mommy readers are fortunate enough to receive a Baltic Amber Teething Necklace from Amber Pieces to try for themselves! Just enter the Rafflecopter below. US only. All entries are verified but the only required entry is to comment on this post! :)

15 Gift Ideas for Toddlers

It's Sweet Pea's Birthday week here at our house and the countdown begins to my baby turning TWO!

And in the spirit of birthdays and the up coming Holidays, I have been doing a ton of research on good gifts to give toddlers. Plus, I had multiple people ask me what to get her.
So here are the 15 Top Gift Ideas for Toddlers that I have Found:

Help With Small Motor Skills:

1. Puzzles
Love these Hand Crafted Chunky Puzzles by Melissa & Doug.

2. Blocks

3. Coloring Books and Crayons

Speech Encouraging Products:

4. "Leap Frog: Phonics Farm"
This movie has helped my daughter tremendously! She can now recognize letters and I give a great deal of credit to this movie.

5. Flash Cards

6-7. Apptivities and Apps
There are tons of free apps but having a variety and mixing it up would pretty awesome as well. Get your niece or nephew (*wink*wink* Bubba) the Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Apptivity iPhone Case or the iPad one Plus a $10 iTunes Gift Card. All in one gift and the parents will be grateful because you saved their electronics from dangerous little hands.
Or if you don't want to hand over your mobile device or tablet, get them their own!

My daughter has a slight obsession with balls. It was one of the first words she said very well and whenever she sees still to this day, it's "Ball, Ball, Ball, Ball". :)

Balls of all sizes - Toddler Gift Ideas

12. Tricycle
We got Sweet Pea the Little Tikes 3-in-1 Trike because it can grow with her and adjust to her skill level.

13. JumpStart Trampoline
At this age, Toddlers don't really jump. They just don't have the balance for it. But this can help them with that! It can teach them to jump by helping them gradually gain their balance, plus it provides safer bouncing for all.

Overall just awesome fun!:

14. Kid Friendly Music CDs.
Learning to read music is like reading another language. Click HERE to read 12 Benefits of Music Education.
FREE Personalized Elmo song & Sesame Street downloads, just enter email addy and promo code: myelmo. {Redeem Now}
FREE Cedarmont Kids Sampler {Redeem Now}

15. A Zoo or Aquarium Membership!
Our zoo membership was the Best Purchase of the year for us! And if I hadn't gotten into a car accident and had transportation for the second half of the year, it would have been better. But with Toddlers, an all day out at parks isn't an option. They still need their down time, but with a membership you can whenever you want, when it fits around your schedule, plus you aren't pressured to see everything in one day.
