But for the kiddos I thought I would try something fun. They have been out of in-school and back to virtual so they haven't making as many crafts like the normally do. With Valentine's Day right around the corner, I was trying to think about what my daughter and I have created together for her to hand out to her class mates. From everything to a homemade Unicorn Valentine Box to easy, no fuss printables. This year I wanted to create something trendy that I knew she would enjoy handing out. Plus I am always trying to think of new non-candy Valentine ideas that kids or even teenagers will actually enjoy.

When I was trying to think about what to make with my daughter for our annual Valentine school handouts, I tried to think about the things she likes. As she thinks being a VSCO girl is the new hip thing (she is only in third grade after all), she loves her Hydroflask, saving the sea turtles one metal straw at a time, and of course scunchies. So I thought, why not create a cute printable for my readers that would make the perfect, non-candy school hand out.

Valentine’s Day looks to be somewhat different this year than it has been in the past. Unlike most years we won’t have much cause to go outside or mingle with others due to the pandemic, and this means we have to contain our efforts to the home and our gardens. My son and daughter have been making Valentine Boxes since they were in pre-school. This year my son knew he wanted to make a shark and my daughter had no idea, so we searched Pinterest. And in my search for the something that sparked my daughter's interest, I decided to create this list of 20 of the Best Valentine Box Ideas that I have found on Pinterest. Maybe New Years resolutions are still in full effect at your house, but in our house we are already getting ready for Valentine's Day. And actually we have perfected our date nights at home so that we enjoy them so much! We truly get to enjoy each other through great conversation and just spending time together.

This is the Unicorn Valentine Box I made for my daughter last year. It wasn't too complicated to make. I just took a box, put some white paper on it, and added some details.

I thought I would make it easier for you than it was for me by providing some templates and a few instructions in case you want to make one too. For the horn, I used a Styrofoam cone and wrapped glitter paper around it. I added "hair" with ribbon, but I think it doesn't really needed it. We also added a crown that we found in our party box and I believe it came from Oriental Trading, but I don't have a picture of it. You could easily make your own too.
