Why St. Patrick's Day is Perfect for Family Fun
St. Patrick's Day celebrated every year on March 17th, honors Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. While the day has religious roots, it has evolved into a celebration of Irish culture, complete with parades, shamrocks, leprechauns, and, of course, food! For parents, St. Patrick’s Day is an excellent opportunity to teach kids about Irish history, folklore, and traditions.
In our home, we love using this day to create family traditions, whether it’s wearing green, making shamrock crafts, or enjoying delicious Irish-inspired treats like these Lucky Charms Marshmallow Treats. This simple recipe is a great way to get the whole family involved in the kitchen, and it’s an easy, stress-free way to make St. Patrick’s Day extra special.

Valentine’s Day Fruit Punch Cupcakes: Easy, Kid-Friendly, and Delicious!
Friday, January 13, 2023
These Fruit Punch Infused Cupcakes became an instant favorite in our house. I made them for a little birthday get-together I hosted, and they were such a hit that a few friends even asked for the recipe. The best part? They’re incredibly easy to make with minimal ingredients and a sweet twist thanks to Tampico’s vibrant fruit punch.
Whether you're planning a festive Valentine's Day treat for your kids, a classroom celebration, or just want to enjoy something sweet during family movie night, these cupcakes are sure to delight everyone. And yes, they’re totally freezer-friendly and perfect for prepping ahead!
Why We Love These Valentine Cupcakes
What makes these different from your typical box mix cupcakes is the clever (and tasty!) substitution of Tampico Fruit Punch for water. That one switch gives them a subtle fruity flavor and a fun pink tint, perfect for Valentine’s Day.
You can also experiment with other Tampico flavors to create your own spin on these. It’s a budget-friendly way to get creative in the kitchen with your little ones.
Valentine Fruit Punch Infused Cupcake Recipe
- 1 box vanilla cupcake mix (your favorite brand works!)
- Tampico Fruit Punch (substitute for the water in the box instructions)
- 1 egg (or egg substitute if preferred)
- ⅓ cup olive oil (or your preferred oil)
- A few drops of red or pink food coloring
- Frosting (store-bought or homemade—your choice!)
- Tip: You can find easy homemade frosting recipes online or grab a tub of pink vanilla frosting to stay on-theme!
Directions:
Preheat the oven according to the directions on the cupcake mix box.
In a mixing bowl, combine the cupcake mix, egg, olive oil, and Tampico Fruit Punch (in place of the water).
Add a few drops of red or pink food coloring to amp up the Valentine’s Day vibes.
Mix everything well until smooth.
Line your muffin tin with festive cupcake liners and fill each one about ⅔ full.
Bake as directed on the box (usually around 18–22 minutes).
Allow cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
Decorate with sprinkles, candy hearts, or cute cupcake toppers for a festive touch.
A Trip Down Memory Lane
These cupcakes remind me that it's not about elaborate Pinterest-perfect projects. It’s about creating memories, giggling over frosting-covered noses, and stealing a quiet moment during a busy season of life.
A Versatile and Fun Recipe
Use the Citrus Punch for bright springtime cupcakes.
Try Island Punch with blue food coloring for a beach or summer-themed party.
Mix in Berry Punch with purple frosting for a princess party.
The possibilities are endless, and kids love being part of the creative process. It’s a great way to let them explore flavors, colors, and textures, all while spending quality time together.

More Than Just a Drink
So the next time you're in the mood to bake something festive and fun, consider reaching for a bottle of fruit punch. It's a small swap that makes a big impact in both taste and presentation.

Homemade Fruity Pebble Marshmallow Treats
Wednesday, August 3, 2022
I can't believe back-to-school season time is already here again. I have been racking my brain and trying to compile lists of all the things that I use to make for my kids for their lunches. Our district had free lunch and breakfast for the last two years, but now I am back to making them again. My kid's do not like school lunches, and I know I can make a better-quality lunch for less at home. But sometimes I do like to throw little treats in their lunch boxes for them.
My friend made these fruity pebble marshmallow treats or rice Krispie treats with fruity pebbles at a party she hosted a few weeks back and they were so good. PLUS, they are only three ingredients and so easy to make that I decided to re-create them. I will say that FRESH marshmallows are the way to go.

Homemade Fruit Bar Popsicles: A Zero-Waste Summer Treat for Frugal Families
Thursday, June 9, 2022
Summer is in full swing, and that means longer days, splashing in the pool, and trying to keep cool in the heat. With the kids out of school, I’ve been doing my best to create budget-friendly snacks that are fun, healthy, and won’t leave us with a pile of food waste. One of our new favorite summer treats? Homemade fruit bar popsicles!
Frugal Living & Zero Waste Go Hand in Hand
In our home, we’ve been trying to live more intentionally, cutting back on unnecessary spending, reducing waste, and using what we already have. That mindset is not only good for the environment, but it’s also been a game changer for our grocery budget. Kids grow fast, eat a lot, and if you’re anything like me, you hate throwing away food that could have been turned into something great.
That’s exactly how this homemade popsicle recipe came to be. I had a bunch of leftover fruit from a canceled Memorial Day charcuterie board. We had brought it to the pool, but no one really touched the raspberries or blueberries. Rather than let them go to waste, I decided to whip up a quick batch of fruit popsicles. And honestly? It’s one of the best (and easiest) ideas I’ve ever had.

Easy Air Fryer Donuts
Wednesday, May 4, 2022
I love baking with my kids. I know I have mentioned how much I love cooking with my kids more than a time or two, but it can be such a fun activity to do together for them to learn not only a helpful life skill, but it can be a fun science project as well to learn about changing properties. But sometimes I want to just create something easy with them. And these Easy Air Fryer Donuts are only two ingredients, but a huge hit the whole house enjoyed.
