FUNdraise For A BIG Cause with Chuck E. Cheese + Giveaway

I received complimentary products to provide this post. All opinions are my own.

Did you know April is National Volunteer Month? Chuck E. Cheese is ramping up for NVM with a nationwide fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sister of America. Every single Chuck E. Cheese location across the country will donate 15% of sales from 3-9 p.m. on 3/31 to BBBS when guests mention the organization. They’re also doing a donation drive throughout April, where families can donate $1, $5 or any amount of their choice to help BBBS match “Littles” with “Big” mentors. When kids donate, they get to write their name on a Pin-Up ticket (picture below) and stick it on the wall to show their support.

I use to LOVE going to Chuck E. Cheese as a kid. And I love that they are giving back to a great organization. This is a great way for parents to talk to their kids about giving back in a way that isn’t too jarring. Trying to explain why it’s important to help some charities - like homeless shelters or cancer support groups - can be a little scary for kids when you get into the details, but it’s easy to talk about how BBBS matches kids (who might be having a hard time) with really nice, smart grown-ups to help them make good choices.

Our New Bedroom: Decluttering, Organizing, and More

I received complimentary products from Cariloha mentioned in this post. All opinions are my own.

Since so many of you have been asking for pictures about our new room since our massive purge and my sneak peak pictures on Instagram, I thought I would share with all of you. We organized a ton and still have a ways to go. We did the most work on our room. It was the room we were ignoring the most, so it was time. We also bought a new bedroom suit from Rooms-To-Go since we have never bought one for ourselves and our mattress was over 20 years old...YUCK! This was our Christmas, Birthdays, and Anniversary present to our selves. LOL

We also got some new bed sheets from Cariloha. I received the Classic Bamboo Bed Sheets Set in Ivory to review. Cariloha specializes in making products out of bamboo fabric such as clothing, sheets, towels, etc.

Tips to Purge for the End of the Year Clean Out

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Goodwill of North Georgia for IZEA. All opinions are 100% mine.

My husband and I have this tradition, well it's not a tradition because we have missed a few years now. But before my son came along, we would clean out our entire house while my husband was using his last vacation of the year from work. We loved it because it made room for new items that we might be getting as well as got us a nice little tax deduction because we always donated to Goodwill of North Georgia.

End of the Year Declutter

I have some simple tips to clear out items that are no longer needed:

Nourish Your Community with Whirlpool

Actions speak louder than words. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, especially if you do it with your family or a group of friends. Volunteering is also a great opportunity to meet people, make friends, and get involved in your community.

Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, Christian housing ministry. They believe that every person should have a decent, safe and affordable place to live. They build, renovate and repair houses all over the world using volunteer labor and donations. They advocate to increase access to decent, affordable housing around the world. They welcome all people to work with them in partnership.

FREE “We’re Parents” e-book download available from The First Years

This week, New York Times-bestselling children’s book author Todd Parr released his new book for grown-ups who thought they knew what they were getting themselves into!

“We’re Parents” is now available as a free e-book download from The First Years, and it benefits a great cause. “We’re Parents” is about everything from how new parents learn to sleep while standing up, to their child’s funny first words and awkward questions, the occasional meltdown and always remembering to celebrate accomplishments!

Give a New Smile to a Child

This is sponsored post written by me on behalf of CampusBookRentals.

Every three minutes a child is born with a cleft. A child with a cleft has twice the odds of dying before their first birthday. Children with cleft conditions who survive may have difficulty eating, speaking, hearing or breathing properly. In some places, they are shunned and rejected. And in too many cases, their parents can't afford the surgeries they need to live a productive life. Every child deserves access to safe, quality surgical care. Every child deserves a future filled with hope.

That's where Operation Smile comes in. Operation Smile is an international children's medical charity that performs safe, effective cleft lip and cleft palate surgery, and delivers postoperative and ongoing medical therapies to children in low and middle income countries.

Operation Smile is a pioneer in advocating for the importance of safe surgery in resource poor environments and is the largest surgical charity of its kind, leading research into the causes of cleft lip and cleft palate, and its prevention, treatment and eradication.

Stamp Out Hunger - Only May 10th!

I just wanted to give everyone a heads up, if you didn't know already, that this weekend is the annual Stamp Out Hunger food drive. On Saturday, May 10, just leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods next to your mailbox before the time of your normal mail delivery. Your letter carrier will collect the donation and deliver it to a food bank or food pantry in your local community.

Just make sure the food is non-perishable, in non-breakable containers and have it ready and at your mailbox before your letter carrier arrives. Super easy and a great way to help out in your community!

Stamp Out Hunger

It’s almost time for Stamp out Hunger!

The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is a yearly event. I missed it last year, but it seems to be by far the easiest way to donate and make a difference in your community! I wanted to give y'all a head start so you can start going through your pantry and gathering up a bag (or more) to leave at your mailbox on Saturday 5/11.

It’s so easy to participate! On Saturday, May 11th, simply leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, like canned Campbell’s soups, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to your mailbox before the time of your regular mail delivery. Your letter carrier will then collect the donations and deliver them to food banks and pantries in your local community.

Stamp Out HungerStamp Out Hunger 2013 Get Your Donations Ready!Keep in mind that you need to make sure that food items are in non-breakable containers, such as boxes and cans. Campbell’s is a sponsor of this wonderful event. So be sure to add a few cans of Campbell’s soups to your Publix shopping list and you will make a difference to those in need in your neck of the woods.

There is no reason not to give because you just have to take the food as far as your mailbox!

Visit the HelpStampOutHunger.com website or their Facebook page for more information.

I found the information for this program at IHeartPublix.
