Showing the Love with Precious Moments

I received complimentary products to provide this post. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Who do you show you love them this time of year? I try and show it all year long, but I love the sappy-ness of Valentine's Day. It may be cheesy as heck, but it is a great reminder to take the time out of your day and really think about those around you that you love. My mother-in-law is one of those people. We have a really unique relationship. I have known her since I was 18 and although I thought I was grown up, she has helped me so much in the process of becoming the adult I am today and I like to show her how much she is appreciated whenever I can. Precious Moments makes quality decorations that will be cherished for years to come.

Bringing Home Baby: Making Time For Marriage

Bringing Home Baby: Making Time For Marriage

HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! :D
I took an accidental break last week and I apologize. I promise I will catch up. :)
So since today is Valentine's Day, I wanted to talk about a topic that is very, VERY important when you are bringing a new baby into the mix, making time for marriage. When I was pregnant the first time around, I didn't know how to involve my Hubby into the pregnancy. I made everything all about me or the baby and I didn't do a very good job with making sure he didn't feel left out. I guess I thought because we were trying to have a baby that he was just on board. Yes, I was going through all these changes physically, but I wasn't considering how he was going through everything emotionally. And because I didn't address these issues when I was pregnant, SweetPea's first year of life was hard. I continued making everything all about her and didn't make time for him and therefore he didn't make time for me. So I have decided to share the ways that I made changes, so this time he didn't feel left out. Whether you planned your pregnancy or not, here are my tips that have helped us through the past couple years. :)

1. Make sure you still date. Restaurant.com is a great resource to save money on going out to eat. You can also have tons of fun by even staying home with the help of Netflix or RedBox. But you need to make sure you still make one-on-one time with your Hubby.

2. Tell each other you love each other often, even if you're mad. Sometimes you can't resolve the argument before you go to bed or your spouse leaves for work, but even if you are mad at them, you still love them.

3. It's okay to apologize and say you're sorry. Don't let your ego get in the way when you know you are wrong. Sometimes you think that something you may have done wasn't a big deal, but it hurt your spouse's feelings. Say you're sorry that their feelings are hurt and explain where you are coming from. Apologizing doesn't mean you are admitting fault.

4. Talk about what's on your mind. Sometimes just talking about the stress (even if it can't be fixed) can make a big difference.

5. Communication is key. Everyone says this and it sounds cliche, but it's true. Even when you are arguing you, make sure it is productive. Just because you are "talking" doesn't mean you are saying the right things. You're mad, tell him why and how you feel, ask him how he is feeling. It sounds simple, but communicating the right way can take years of practice.

6. Let your child see the resolve and see how much you love each other. Show your spouse you love them. Your child will learn how to treat their spouse (and how to be treated BY their spouse) from watching their mother and father. So treat your significant other how you want your child treated.

Okay, now it's your turn.
What are some ways you feel help a marriage when there is a baby on board?

The Very Wed Game! A Valentine's Day Link-Up Post

In honor of Valentine's Day coming up, I am linking up with The Life of a Not So Ordinary Wife for a Valentine's Day Link Up. This was so fun to do. I sat down and asked him each question after I filled it out myself. So much FUN!

You can view Our Love Story HERE. :D

How long have you been married?
Her: Since July 15, 2007, so 5 and a half years.
Him: Six years in July

Where was your first date?
Her: He wanted to take me ice skating but they closed down, so we went bowling, out to eat, AND to the movies instead. ♥
Him: [A Bar-B-Q place], bowling, and the park. AND we went to the movies because we saw Shrek 3. It was a very expensive date...

Where was your first kiss?
Her: On top of a play ground slide. Most random, I know.
Him: On the slide at the park..I told her there was a toll.

Who first said, "I love you"?
Her: He did. ♥
Him: She did...wait no...I did.

What were your wedding colors?
Her: Pink and white
Him: pink and white

What is her most commonly used phrase?
Her: "You know what I'm saying?" - At least that's what I think he will say. :)
Him: "Like"
*I do say both a lot, he did shake his head in agreement when I told him my answer.*

Who is her celebrity crush?
Her: Paul Rudd. Funny, cute, absolutely adorable.
Him: Seth Rogen. I disagree about Paul Rudd, it's Seth Rogen more.
*This was hard. They are both in my top five. I just like funny guys!*

If she was ordering drinks for both of you what would you each get?
Her: Jack and Coke or a Long Island Iced Tea. Depends where we are. Those are what he drinks in Vegas. :)
Him: A Jack and Coke, Duh!

Las Vegas, NV - Paris Hotel - 2008

What is the best meal she has ever cooked you?
Her: Island Pork Tenderloin or Enchiladas
Him: Enchiladas

What is the worst meal she has ever cooked you?
Her: One time when we lived in our apartment back when we were still engaged, we had just moved in and he was late coming home from work and didn't call and I tried to keep the hamburger helped warm by keeping the eye on the stove low. Burned straight to the pot. I also had an ANCIENT crock pot and we ate way under cooked pot roast. :/But this is why I am a Stouffer's Lasagna kind of cook. :P
Him: That roast at the apartment that was raw and I had to cook Hamburger Helper while she cried the night away.

What is the most-played song on her iPod?
Her: N*Sync - pretty much anything 90's.
Him: She doesn't have an iPod. What is this 2005?

What would she say is your most annoying habit?
Her: Picking his nose in front of me, go to the bathroom for goodness sakes!
Him: Thinking about myself.

What is the last thing she does before she goes to bed?
Her: Check E-mail. :P
Him: Checks her social media. Her phone in general.

If you could throw out one item of her clothing what would it be?
Her: I think he would say my nursing night gowns. I still wear them sometimes because they are so comfy but they are huge and aren't even a very cute pattern. He always complains about them but I love them. :)
Him: Those damn night gowns.

What would you say is your favorite thing about her?
Her: I have no idea what he would say. Use to be my hourglass figure but that went out the window two years ago (I'm more pear shaped now). Maybe my eyes?
Him: Her personality. She has a dry sense of humor that not many people get. But they don't matter.

What's her go-to drink at Starbucks?
Her: Tall Caramel Frappucino
Him: Tall Caramel Frappucino. Are they (referring to these questions) suppose to be hard?

What's her blog's name?!
Her: I don't think he would get this right...but I did just buy a dot com...
Him: NannyToMommy.com

He did a GREAT job!
I am so proud! This will make our NINEth Valentine's Day together and I can still remember the first one together and I am looking forward to so many more.

For bonus points: Anyone know where the phrase, "He's her lobster" is from? :)

Linking Up At:

2 Month Check In

These pictures were taken on 2/9/2011:
2 Month Old Lizzie
2 Month Old Lizzie

Her newest accomplishments are (maybe I should say so far):
1- Holding her head up:

Lizzie can hold her head up!

2- Smiling:

Lizzie Smiling

3- Rolling over. She hasn't officially rolled over but the other day she was crying while I was in the bathroom and when I came out she had rolled over in her swing. So needless to stay we have to make sure we strap her in everywhere.

4- Sleeping through the night in her bassinet. She sleeps for two five hour stretches which makes me one happy momma! :)

Valentine's Day was this month and here she is all dressed up (Isn't she cute? :]):

Valentine's Day

Her 2 month check up was today (we are still behind from the ice storm). But we will be caught up by the next one. I got there early because I thought then maybe we could go back early, which we did. While we were waiting in the lobby, I had to feed her and these people sitting across from us were giving us dirty looks. I wanted to smack them. I'm feeding my baby. This is a very natural thing. Get over it. If it makes you fee uncomfortable move. There are two doctors in the practice and we saw the one we usually haven't been seeing. I didn't really care for him. She weighed 10.4 pounds (40%), 22 inches long (%25), and her head measured 40cm (%75). So she is a short, average weight baby with a big head. :) He said her spitting up wasn't reflux and he talked about the possibility of giving her food at four months....I don't know what to think about that. Well once the doctor left we waited for EVER! I poked my head out and then a nurse asked what we were waiting for, shots or to see the doctor. Then she apologized for the wait and came in. Baby girl had fallen asleep:

They had to wake her up so she could get an oral shot. And they had to give her FOUR SHOTS, two in each thigh. :C Poor baby girl cried like I have never heard. it broke my heart but I didn't cry this time! :) Which helped her get over it faster.
