Math Games to Play at Home with Elementary Kids

My elementary school aged daughter's school shared these math games with dice and cards to play at home and I thought I would share them with all of you. The title of the game is a link to the game instructions and other materials that may be needed to play. Have fun while brushing up on those math skills!

The awesome thing is that children are practicing their math skills without even realizing it!

30+ Free Educational Resources During Emergency School Closures

My first thought when I heard that they were closing schools was, "How are those children that get free lunch going to eat?" Thankfully, my school district is still passing out lunches. I would still go and deliver peanut butter and jelly sandwiches if that is what needed to be done. My next thought was, "How are we going to educate our children?" My son gets IEP and so this was a major concern whether he was going to get behind or not. Thankfully I have resources like ABCmouse and RevolutionMath, but not everyone is so lucky.

I came across this list from Amazing Educational Resources Facebook Group so I thought I would share here as well so more people can find it. I do encourage you to follow that group for more. Just click on each link below to find out how to access their free program.

I also believe reading to them every day is a must, here is a great list of classic books that I think should be on every child's book shelves. The Surprising Techniques You Can Use To Boost Your Baby's Brain Power

We all want our babies to grow up to become cogent individuals, able to take on whatever cognitive challenges that they face as adults. At the very least, we want them to have the raw brainpower to get through school and perhaps get a college degree.

As parents, it’s only natural to wonder whether there’s anything that we can do to help develop their minds. While much of an infant’s intelligence is biologically determined, research suggests that parents can play a pivotal role in ensuring that they achieve various developmental “milestones.”

Here’s what to do if you want your baby to be smart.

Help Your Child Succeed in Math with Revolution Math

My daughter loves school and learning. I know that this isn't the case for all. My son just turned five and when he starts kindergarten next year, I know we will have our hands full especially when it comes to homework. But if you're child is like my son and school aged 2nd to 5th grade, I thought I would share our experience with a wonderful supplement to homeschool or at home tutoring program focusing on math.

Revolution Math Review

We were recently introduced to Revolution Math. Revolution Math is an online, after-school program designed to help 2nd-5th graders develop their math skills and overall love of learning. Small groups of 3-4 students are matched with a live tutor as they go on weekly story-based adventures, using math to solve mysteries and tackle team-based challenges.

They reached out to me before Christmas, but I was so slammed packed with Holiday Gift Guide stuff that I never got around to it. I wish I had sooner though because my daughter has absolutely LOVED this program! My daughter was in her class with another girl. The teacher was very nice and engaging. Here is our honest review of the program:

Thank A Teacher with Crayola

This post is sponsored by Crayola in the form of complimentary products. All opinions are my own. These products were featured in our Back to School Guide.

My mom was a teacher when we were growing up. I remember watching her go back to school after she and my dad divorced. She worked so hard to become a teacher, a lot of late nights studying and creating lesson plans. She loved being a teacher so much. Educating our children is such an important and, often times, underappreciated profession.

Crayola has been our brand of choice for so many years. My mom and I would create lesson plans and activities using Crayola because they make high quality products with beautiful vibrant colors in every box. And they are the one and only crayon and marker brand I trust to actually be washable when the package says it is. This summer Crayola has started an amazing initiative. They have started the next phase of the “Thank a Teacher” campaign. They want kids around the country to show their appreciation for teachers and help reach one million thank-yous to teachers across the country!

Some items were received complimentary in hopes of inclusion. All opinions are our own.

My hope each and every summer is that my children avoid the summer slide which is not forgetting everything they learned the previous school year. STEAM is an educational approach to learning that uses Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as access points for guiding student inquiry, dialogue, and critical thinking. I love to have educational toys on hand during the summer in hopes of beating summer slide.

Give the Gift of Interactive Reading with LeapFrog LeapStart + Giveaway

I am a member for the LeapFrog Mom Squad and receive complimentary products as such. All opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links.

Education is our top priority in our house. I want my kids to learn through play, so I try to make sure they have fun learning tools. I have been a HUGE fan of homeschooling with LeapFrog products for many years now and the LeapStart interactive early learning system is perfect for the budding student and makes a great gift as well.

I received the original LeapStart last year and my daughter used it as a great resource to help prepare her for Kindergarten. So since I have been working more with my son to help him in school, I decided that it was a great idea for them both to have one. I love the design of the newer one because it has easy grab and go handles so we can learn anywhere.

Stay School Ready with Catch & Learn Game + Giveaway

My daughter just graduated Kindergarten and I have been stressing this summer making sure she doesn't forget anything she learns last year. The thing is, I don't want her to stress about it. I still want her to have fun and enjoy her summer break. I was recently sent this fun game from PlaSmart called Catch and Learn. It's "the educational game where you fish for answers".

Match It Up Game - Help Kindergarteners Use Numbers as Adjectives

Third, you're ready to play! You and your child will have endless fun trying to match numbers as you turn over cards. Home Schooling A Toddler with ABCmouse.com Early Learning Academy

This post was originally published on 6/16/2013.

Education is so important to me. I believe that in order to help our children be self-sufficient, they need a solid foundation which in my opinion is education. I have been home schooling SweetPea for a few months now. I looked into a two year old preschool for her, but with money being tight, I didn't feel that was a viable option. I was recently asked to try an Early Learning Academy app with my daughter. I feel it is more budget friendly option for the parent who wants to help further their child's education.

Homeschooling a Toddler ABCmouse Early Learning Academy
I have seen their commercials on PBS and Disney Junior, so I was always curious, but for some reason I never looked in it. ABCmouse.com is perfect for when the kids are out of school this summer to keep their minds at work while having fun, it's perfect for the child that needs a little help, it's a great tool for home schooling moms, and it's perfect for us because they have lessons specifically designed for toddlers.

Exploring Outer Space with Educational Insights

My daughter is at this amazing age where she wants to learn as she plays. I think it has a lot to do with the amazing teachers that she had last year. They focused on a lot of hands-on learning and she learned so much in the past year. Now that summer is in full force, I have been wanting to make sure she doesn't get "Summer Brain Drain" and lose all that information.

I received complimentary products to provide this review. All opinions are my own.

So when I was asked to review the GeoSafari Jr. My First Telescope from Educational Insights, I took it as an opportunity to help my daughter learn about the moon and other lunar facts with a hands-on experience.

Discover Our America - Not Just Another Subscription Box

I received complimentary products to provide this review. All opinions are my own.

I love subscription boxes. I especially love ones that are educational while exploring fun new products. So when I was asked to review Discover Our America, I was extremely excited. Discover Our America is a monthly subscription box that empowers people to experience and celebrate each U.S. state's uniqueness. Monthly, they carefully pick 5-7 products from each state to help you experience it in a new way.

I received the Michigan box. I have never been to Michigan, but it is on my bucket list because I want to see the great lakes. So getting a taste of a new state that I have never been to before is a very cool experience.

What was in my box:

Ocean Exploration with Revelae Kids

This summer, my main goal is to make sure my daughter doesn't suffer from summer brain drain. So I have been trying to get creative on how we play. I have some craft ideas (that I will be sharing soon) and we have even been getting creative in the kitchen together. My daughter actually likes flash cards, so we have been working with those. We also bought some BOB books and she has started recognizing more sight words.

I received complimentary product in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I was also contacted about reviewing a Discover Box for Sensory Play from Revelae Kids I jumped at the chance. Discovery Boxes introduce kids to a magical world of realistic-looking creatures, sparkling crystals, colorful rocks & shells, and miniature plants & flowers. Discovery Boxes encourage hours of imaginative play; kids can scoop up the sensory beans, water beads or play sand and discover the hidden treasures within each box.
