Pink Lemonade Shop Review & Giveaway

If you have been following for any period of time, then you know that the main reason I am eco-friendly is because I feel like it is more cost effective. Now since this is such a different way than I was brought up or my husband was for that matter, there is a learning curve to any that is new.

Back in February, I received some products to try out from Pink Lemonade Shop. They are a mama owned, Southwest Ohio small business that make pads for girls to pads for postpartum. So this review and giveaway will be about reusable feminine hygiene products. You can use them for post-partum or even if you have some bladder leakage. But that's what these products are. I just want to be up-front about that before you continue on.

I wrote a post a few weeks back, that has now gone semi-viral (for my blog at least) that showcases some of the products that I use to live a more eco-friendly AND frugal lifestyle. One of the products mentioned was from Pink Lemonade Shop and they are reusable pads. Some people don't like talking about it. But it's natural and honestly if you can find anyway around The Pink Tax, then I want to help you be the best you.

I knew my period was about to start, so I started wearing the large pad because at first my flow is usually on the heavy side. Like with anything new, there was a learning curve. I received a variety of sizes. I have a heavy flow for days some months and some months it's light. This past month's was HEAVY. I'm still not sure why my body is so irregular even though my period comes at almost the exact same day every 32 to 34 days. I am also considered plus size. So this can effect where the products sit on me. So since I am irregular, I asked for a variety of sizes: 6'' Original Width Pantyliner, 9'' Day Pad, and 10'' Heavy Flow Pad.

I did a have a little leakage the first night or day one of my period. This isn't anything new really though. The other issue I did experience was working out in them. I tend to bleed heavier when I am working out so there is that.

And you might be asking yourself, why don't I try tampons or reusable menstrual cups? I'm going to stop you right there. First of all traditional tampons are toxic and terrible for the environment. Second, I have tried menstrual cups and they aren't for everyone especially if you are like me and your body has changed SO much since you had kids.

What I did like about the products from Pink Lemonade Shop is that they come in a variety of colors and sizes. They have the best selection on the web actually. Some were minky dots or fleece lined. And they all came with easy clasp snaps. I also like that their website includes instructions on how to launder them and they aren't complicated at all.

Have you ever tried reusable menstrual pads? What are your thoughts?

  2. I have wondered about these reusable product but haven't tried them. My way of helping the environment is buying my daughter mechanical pencils so she can refill them!

We use cloth diapers, cloth wipes, and I'm building my "mama cloth" stash. I want to try to move toward unpaper towels. We go through way too many of those.

  9. I stopped using straws all day and now just use them at night. We stopped using plastic silverware.

  10. I have used a cup for many years with disposable liners for that surprise first day, but I recently switched to cloth pads when I discovered them. I also just bought some reusable straws.
