FREEbie Friday - Black Friday Style

There are some AWESOME deals going online today. As I mentioned earlier, I am a Cyber Monday kind of girl but what I love about these deals is that I don't have to wait until Monday to get these ONLINE! That means no claustrophobia flare ups for me! ;)

Grab your freebies while you can because they will either sell out or end before you know.

Okay so what freebies are you scoring today? I know I am headed to Babies-R-Us on Saturday but I think today I am going to grab some gifts for SIL and then buy some baby clothes. I bummed I didn't have a car and missed the sheet sale at Walmart But I have extreme issues with crowds.

My questions for you, are you a Black Friday or Cyber Monday kind of shopper? What deals do you plan on trying to score or did score today?

Not quite what you were looking for?

TriCalm Review + Giveaway!

Relieve {winter} itch...naturally.

I have terrible dry skin during the winter and unfortunately it looks as those my genetics have been passed down to my daughter in that arena as well. So I was ecstatic when I found out I had been offered the opportunity to try out TriCalm through Green Moms Meet. I had heard about it before hand but since it won't be available in stores (Walgreens, CVS, and Kerr Drug) until January 2013, I personally was unable to try it out for myself.

I have tried multiple brands to get the winter itch to go away but I have not been able to find anything that I felt was safe and would do the job. TriCalm is steroid free and contains COSMEDERM-7, a compound of strontium, a naturally occurring element found in leafy green vegetables, so I feel it is safe for my family.

Not only was TriCalm effective at relieving my itchy skin but it also isn't thick and gooey. It rubbed into my skin very well. The smells is interesting. It doesn't smell bad but I wouldn't say it is fragrant either, just different. But it worked on contact and relieved my over washed, winter hand itchiness immediately.

Here is a list of other uses of TriCalm:

As I learned from the TriCalm Webinar, that is now on the Green Moms Meet YouTube page and that you can view HERE, it is suggested to still use your regular moisturizer if you are using it to relieve dry skin itchiness, which I suggest as well, as TriCalm just took away the itchiness and I could still see my hands were dry.

Green Moms Meet and TriCalm not only let me test out this product for free so I could share my thoughts on the product with you, they also offered TWO very luck readers the opportunity to test out TriCalm for themselves!

To Enter to be one of TWO winners to receive ONE FULL SIZED tube of TriCalm Hydrogel, please enter the RaffleCopter below.

Thankful For Her

February of 2010 my Father was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and given six months to two years to live. So that March my husband and I planned to conceive in hopes that he would get the opportunity to meet his first grand child. We were blessed and found out we were pregnant in April.

My grandmother who had been suffering from Alzheimer's for quite sometime, became very ill and passed away right before I was able to tell her the wonderful news. I was one of the few people she remembered and I was by her side when she passed away.

May 2010, I got into a random car accident.

That June my husband's sister got married in Florida.

As soon as we returned, my father took a turn for the worse. He passed away July 16, 2010, the day after my husband and mine's third year wedding anniversary. Time seemed to stand still. I was very close to my father.

July 27, 2010, we found out we were having a little girl. I walked out of the doctor's office and the first thing I did was get out my phone to call my dad. And then I cried. But he told me I was having a little girl in a dream a few days before. And I just knew.

Right there after, my identity was stolen. She opened multiple credit cards and I had to take time off of work to get a police report. It over two years later and there is still something on my credit report.

Then the blood pressure issues started and I was put on bed rest November of that year.

My step-mother fought with us constantly over life insurance money and I just wanted my father back. But at least he was no longer in pain.

December 8, 2010, I went to a scheduled appointment and was sent to the hospital for induction due to preeclampsia. December 9 at 2:56 p.m., my perfect 7.3lb ray of sunshine was born.

I am thankful for her. Yes, I am thankful for my husband, he is my Prince Charming. Yes, I am thankful for all the other wonderful people in my life. But this little princess saved me. She was the silver lining on that horrendous year. And every day I look at her and I can not believe that we were blessed with this beautiful, smart, amazing miracle.

Never Say Never

I don't know if many of my new followers know this but I was a nanny. Duh, right? Not only was I a nanny but I was a nanny to the same family for five years. I loved those children unconditionally. And I was only 19 when I started caring for them.

I can not tell you how many times I played the never game. I hate pacifiers, "My child will never have a pacifier", and it's almost two years later and just look,

"I will never let my child sleep in my bed". I thought co-sleeping created terrible habits and we did it for the first few months of her life and I still miss it.

Sweet Pea's new thing that I said I would never let my child do? Sleep with a ton of stuffed animals. It's ridiculous the amount of lovies she currently 'has' to sleep with. Why did it bother me as a nanny? I think the main reason is because his mom and I were expected to keep up with the millions of lovies that got dragged throughout the house. I do let Sweet Pea have all her lovies at night but only one when we go out and about in the world, and only two out of bed period. It gets too chaotic when they are all out. But she is okay with these rules. Sometimes she tries to bring out more and even slips one past me. But I feel like, is the battle really worth it? And no it's not.

I may not have liked this before but sure makes for some cute pics!

The children I was a nanny for listened to me without a doubt. With their mom, it was a different story. And I couldn't figure out why. I thought maybe she somehow spoiled them behind my back or something. And it's not that they didn't listen to her most of the time. It just seemed that they would try to pull one over on her more than they ever did with me. I always said, "My child will always listen to me".

Now to Sweet Pea, that girl is bull headed and rough around the edges. She throws fits and if you tell her to do something, she doesn't want to. But my mom watched her and said she was a delight. My friend, whose little girl I watch - who listens to me By the way, can ask Sweet Pea to do something and she does it. When I ask her, she looks at me defiantly. My question for you, why? Why do they have to push Mommy's buttons more than anyone else's?

Spoiled Rotten Toddler
This picture probably perfectly describes her attitude towards me when I ask her to do something.
My sister-in-law works at a day care and currently is pregnant with her first biological child. She has started playing the never game. But I just keep my mouth shut. It is easy to play the never game when you have never been in a certain situation. But until you are in it for yourself, you truly have no idea what you are going to do.

My daughter is almost two. That means it has been two years since I was a nanny. I can not believe it has been so long. Time sure does fly when you are having fun.

Never Say Never

But my advice? "Live and learn, then get Luvs." ;)

So what are your nevers?

Weekly Totals & a Twilight Rant + Linky

My friend decided she had to see that new movie everyone is talking about...what's it called? oh yeah 'Twilight'...Ugh...

I know this post has nothing to do with this but I just have to say those books are terrible. I usually get addicted to a series and read them the entire way through, like with 'Chronicles of Narnia', 'Harry Potter', or even 'Gossip Girls' (of course I was in high school when I read those).
But Stephenie Meyer is an irresponsible writer. She wrote Bella as this character 'that a girl could be' which is crap because it just means she couldn't invent an awesome female lead. PLUS it made the 'Shades of Grey' series difficult to stick with because I got sick of her. For those of you that don't know, '50 Shades of Grey' was originally written as fan fiction for 'Twilight'.
Now saying that, Meyer is also a TERRIBLE, completely HORRIBLE writer. She uses "there there". That should never be used. Yes, sometimes when speaking you may phrase something that way but when you are writing a book, it's called edit it before it's publish! It's like she wrote it one night, never looked it over, and said, "Hey I think I will try and make money on this since I'm bored with my life".
Saying all that, I liked the books better than the movies.
My reason?
My imagination is better than their acting.
Okay rant over, now on to what you came here for.

Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Influenster Beauty Blogger Vox Box Review

As part of being an Influenster, I received this awesome Vox Box with many great beauty products to test out and try. Now I am NOT a Beauty Blogger but I do buy a lot of beauty products so I guess that's what got me qualified?

Anyways here is what I got as part of the Vox Box:

Kiss Ever Pro Eyelashes
I loved the fullness but I am actually more of a natural makeup kind of girl. So I would only wear these on very special occasions. I didn't care for the little applicator tool but I did like the glue that came with it because it had an applicator type stick thing with it. Kind of like white out.
Tips: make sure your glue drys a little and gets tacky before applying and move the lashes in a bending type motion so the lashes become are more workable.

Goody SimplyStyles Spin Pin
I LOVED THESE! Awesome! I have a toddler and they make my life super easy by providing a variety of hairstyles were little fingers won't pull my very long hair. I also love that they come in different colors, so you can get the ones that match your hair color!
Tip: Don't cross the streams!

Not Your Mother's Smooth Moves Frizz Control Hair Cream
I am not use to product in my hair so it Different. I am use to running my fingers through my hair and even with a brush it was a bit difficult. i do suggest using conditioner with this product. It did control my frizz and made my hair shiny and smell wonderful. So I give it four out of five stars! :)
Tips: Make sure you use conditioner.

EBOOST Daily Health Booster - Orange
My husband LOVES these types of 'health boosters', he says they really work and that he can tell they make him better. I have always been skeptical of products like this. I just don't think their is some magic pill or powder or drink that is going to make you magically feel better. BUT what was so surprising is that I actually did feel better when taking this. No it wasn't immediate but it did have a dramatic effect on how I felt overall. It didn't taste great though. I had to hold my nose and chug. So it lost a little in ratings for that.
Tips: use a SMALL amount of water, chug, and then drink the recommended amount of water.

Bath & Body Works Mini Candle - Cider Lane
I wish I could send you a smell-o-gram. I can not stop smelling this candle. My house smells like fall. And what makes the mini candle even better is that it seriously can fit any where! I have always loved Bath & Body Works lotions, fragrances, and hand soaps but I have never bought candles from them. I didn't even know they sold candles! But I am a BIG fn and they have my continued business. Keep 'me coming, B&BW! :) (Review in first video, as well.)
Tip: When you blow out the candle, linger just a bit to continue smelling the yumminess.

NYC New York Colors IndividualEyes
I was scared of the dark eye shadow to be honest. I am a natural makeup type of girl. I liked that it came with a tutorial. I seriously needed it. I had no idea how to create a shadow eye look. But I LOVE the way it turned out. I felt so pretty. I didn't however like the little spongy thing that came with it, I only used that for the base. I did like that the makeup transferred very easily and you didn't have to rub too much to get it to get on your brush.
Tip: Buy your own brushes to apply.

Celebrate Veteran's Day

My Father made many sacrifices for his country when he fought in Vietnam. His cancer was believed to be caused by his exposure to Agent Orange. So this Veteran's Day think about all the men and women who gave their lives and time away from their families to fight for your freedom.

I'm here letting my daddy know that although he is in heaven, in a place with no pain, he is missed here and will never be forgotten.

Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Disney's 'Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups' *FLASH* Giveaway!

I received complimentary products to provide this post. All opinions are my own.

About The Film:
"The North Pole has a new litter of playful pups! However, when the frisky foursome—Hope, Jingle, Charity and Noble—practically destroy Santa’s Workshop with their frolicking, they realize the best way to prove that they’re responsible enough to become Santa’s Helpers is to show how well they can spread the Christmas spirit all by themselves. With help from a magic crystal, they start granting everyone’s wishes. But their good intentions backfire when one unhappy boy asks that Christmas go away forever! With his wish impetuously fulfilled, and the joyous spirit quickly disappearing from the planet, Mrs. Claus and the pups have to find a way to reverse the spell—or risk losing Christmas forever!"

My Review:
Adorably sweet, cute, and innocent. My daughter, who is almost two, loved the talking puppies and the little girl singing. The songs were up-beat and jolly. My daughter watched almost the entire movie which is saying a LOT for a live action movie. The only reason she didn't make it the entire way through, was because it was way past her bedtime. But we give it two thumbs up!

Okay everyone! I received a DVD for free to review (of course all opinions are my own) but was also given the opportunity to give one away as well! This one has a deadline, so that is why it is called a FLASH giveaway!:D

Kylie Minogue - "The Abbey Roads Sessions" Review

I received complimentary products to provide this post. All opinions are my own.

I love doing these types of reviews. I am a complete music nerd. And I have a passion for awesome vocals and in Kylie Minogue's new album The Abbey Roads Sessions, she is stripped of her high-end pop production, the emotional resonance of Kylie’s songs has never been clearer, and her voice has never sounded better. The orchestral arrangement is beyond beautiful.
The beautiful Kylie Minogue

The Abbey Road Sessions features sixteen tracks, all radically reworked, spanning Kylie’s incredible twenty-five-year career. It was recorded in London’s legendary Abbey Road Studios with Kylie’s band and a full orchestra. The album features many of Kylie’s best-known hits and previously unreleased tracks. One previously known hit that stands out for me is Can't Get You Out of My Head.

Did you know?
Kylie is a breast cancer survivor and donates her time to the American Cancer Society.
Kylie’s latest single “Flower” is a song she wrote several years ago following her battle with breast cancer, to the child she wishes she might one day still have. This song is beautiful and truly heart touching.

HERE is an album sampler on YouTube.
You can also follow Kylie on Twitter.
Or 'like' Kylie on Facebook.
You can also buy it on iTunes or Amazon.

Perfectly Simple by ZONE Perfect Review

I received complimentary products to provide this post. All opinions are my own.

Apparently this week, is review week. I didn't plan for it to happen this way, but it kind of did. I love writing reviews so hopefully you like reading them! :)

I received the opportunity to review these Perfectly Simple Bars by ZONE Perfect through Bloggy Moms. These bars have only 6-10 ingredients, 10 grams of protein, and are gluten-free! They are available in Cranberry Almond, Peanut Crunch and Toasted Coconut.

The Cranberry Almond just burst with flavor in your mouth! A perfect on-the-go snack. Now I didn't try the Toasted Coconut as I am allergic and we honestly didn't care for the Peanut Crunch. But the Cranberry Almond is a must try! Now although I didn't care for the Peanut Crunch in bar form, maybe if I tried it in one of ZONE Perfect's many recipes like this Cranberry Apple Crisp I'm sure I would have enjoyed them more.

Farm Rich Appetizers Review + Giveaway

I received complimentary products to provide this post. All opinions are my own.

I was so excited to get invited to do this review. I don't know if y'all remember that I bought Farm Rich Appetizers at the end of September, but I did and loved them. It's really funny how that worked out because I had already planned on buying them that week when I was asked to do this review. Although I had never tried any Farm Rich products, personally, I had heard great things. And then of course you know I bought the Farm Rich Appetizers last week to do this review. These appetizers are seriously AH-MAY-ZING!

We tried the mini quesadillas (my favorite and pictured below), mozarella bites, mozzarella sticks (featured picture above), and the stuffed pretzel bites. Everything was amazing yumminess in every bite. And everyone in the family loved them!

I think if you have any football fans, these would be great for a Super Bowl party. My daughter's birthday is December 9th, and I have plans to serve a variety of Farm Rich appetizers at her party.

I am also very excited about this review opportunity because Farm Rich was kind enough to offer TWO FREE PRODUCT coupons (up to $6.99 value) to a very lucky reader! All you have to do is fill out the RaffleCopter below.
All entries are verified but the only required entry is commenting on this post. Please leave some kind of name that resembles your Rafflecopter name/email so I know who you are. :)

The Mom Connection

I am teaming up this week with Naptime Review and Two in Diapers for this exciting NEW series about motherhood.

We are always wondering how other moms handle certain issues or dilemmas,
so each week we are going to tackle the questions of motherhood.

Next week we will discuss
Siblings and sharing: Where do you draw the line between requiring sharing and allowing for personal space with certain toys?

If you have some thoughts or advice on next week's topic please email
We would love for you to be part of The Mom Connection!

Now on to this week's topic!
How do you get your children to clean up and pick up thier toys?

Here is what a few of us had to say:

Welcome! I'm Julie
over at Naptime Review. I am a mom of 2 wild, crazy and beautiful girls. My oldest is almost 4 and my baby just turned 1. This is how I handle cleaning up with my kiddos:

I am really looking forward to hearing all the other comments and tips. I really struggle with this issue and I constantly feel like a drill sergeant with my oldest daughter. I have a Type A personality and I am OCD when it comes to cleaning and messes. I really think God blessed me with free spirited, creative and MESSY girls to teach me a lesson.

Here are some tips that have helped me alleviate the craziness that clutter brings. I only clean my daughter's room on Sunday. I try not to let the mess that fills the room the minute after “we” pick up her toys consume me. I also purchased large organization tubs at Target. I just toss everything in and wheel into her closet and shut the door. We also pick up our toys in the playroom every night before bed. If she is stalling, which she does, I set a timer.  If her toys aren't picked up when the timer goes off, she loses TV after bath. Thankfully, the timer seems to motivate her.

I also constantly remind my oldest that God gives us things and it's our responsibility to take care of them. I am trying to teach her appreciation for all the blessings in her life. So far, it seems to be in one ear and out the other, but that's why I have 2 children right? All I have to do is sing the "clean up" song and the baby puts toys away... for now. I am trying to train her young!

So what works for us is to not "stress the mess" and to purchase organizational tubs!

Hi! I'm Cassie
from Two In Diapers, and I'm a mommy to three sweet babies, ages 4, 3, and 18 months.

Getting the kids to clean up toys is actually a very recent topic of concern for me. In 2008, I gave birth to a beautiful little baby girl named Emily, and then our lives turned into a whirlwind of activity that included two more babies and before I knew it, four years later, I was grudgingly cleaning up roomfuls of toys during nap time while wistfully daydreaming about sitting on the couch reading a novel. One day my mom snapped me back to reality by pointing out that my littles were well old enough to be cleaning up after themselves. Oh yeah, that one thing I'm supposed to be teaching them.

My first method of getting the kids to clean up included some yelling, a bit of bribing and lots of threatening. Fail. This left me with a messy house, three cranky kids and lots of frustration.

I decided it was time to get creative. Lately we've been finding many more ways to clean up that are much more fun and exciting. For example, when cleaning up the blocks, we pick them up by color. I let the kids pick which colors in what order. First, we might put all of the red blocks into the basket, then the yellow and so on. Sometimes I let them each pick a type of toy to be responsible for - such as Emily picking up the books and Bentley picking up the toy cars. One of our very favorites, however, is pulling out each basket in our family room and lining them up in the middle of the floor. We then pick up each toy and try to toss it into the correct basket. This usually results in lots of giggles, but you can bet the toys get cleaned up!

One last thing, I have to say on this topic is that the more organized your play area is, the better. Our small toy area is very organized {you can view it here}. There is one clearly-marked basket for each type of toy, and one basket for miscellaneous toys. Everything has a home. The more confusing and chaotic a toy space is, the more overwhelming it is for kids {and parents!} to clean up.

So I supposed my advice is - get organized and have fun!

My name is Casey Wiegand and I blog over at CaseyLeigh.  I am the mama of three kids. Aiden (3), Ainsleigh (2) and Apple (2 months).

Even though I am an artist and free spirit...I like things to be organized, clean and in some type of order. The most helpful thing to control the "mess" with the kiddos is shelves with baskets for all of the toys. That way they can play all day and at the end of each day my two toddlers know that we put everything back into the baskets. It gives a bit of "system" to the chaos.

Another thing that helped was putting all of the toys in our family room/office. Taking the toys out of their bedrooms and putting them all in one spot with the basket system has been amazing for our family organization.

Lastly, I love having a family calendar and a meal plan calendar. I like to be able to hand write on them both and keep them on my work desk. Both of these help me immensely!

Hello! My name is Diana from Nanny2Mommy. I was a nanny for five years (thus the name) before I became a mom. During that time when it was just their older son, I would clean up after him and never encourage him to clean. I didn't because it was a job that I got paid to do it.

When their daughter was born and as she got older, I was out numbered and needed help with the disasters they created. So I encouraged them to help me clean up. The older one was so used to me doing everything that he just wouldn't help. I had to say things like, "Oh your baby sister is doing such a good job cleaning up, could you help her?" or "Let's see who can clean up the most" or "the fastest" etc. Cleaning eventually became a part of his routine.

My suggestion? Get them started early where they are used to it and it is just habit. My daughter knows what to do when I say let's clean up now and, although I have to go behind her, I feel I am setting her up for good habits in the future. And she likes it because we try to make it a game. She is even learning how to organize her toys now as well.

Hello! My name is Janine
and I blog over at True Aim. I am a Mother of 3 under the age of 5. I also have a Home Preschool and teach 3 other children.

Here are 3 techniques that I use to get my little ones to clean up their toys.

1. A Manageable Mess: Once a mess becomes too large, no one wants to clean it, including me. So, I have all of our toys and books divided up into containers. The rule is that each child may play with one container at a time. When they are done, they must put everything back before moving on to the next container. This method is great because at no point is the mess so large that it is unmanageable and our house is always moderately clean – just in case the neighbors pop in!

2: Off to the Races! Often, my kids would drag the cleaning of large messes out all day. As long as I was watching they would clean, but the moment I left they would lose focus and begin playing. Also, they all cleaned at a snail's pass, hoping that if they waited it out, one of their sibling would eventually finish the job without them. That is why, instead of "cleaning a mess," we head "off to the races!" I set a timer and give everyone an area to clean up. Whoever cleans up their mess first wins the race

3: Repossession or Reward? When my children forget to put away their toys, I simply repossess them. Once a toy is repossessed, my children must buy it back with Popsicle sticks or by doing an extra chore. On the other hand, if they do keep their toys tidy, I reward them with Popsicle sticks or an occasional treat!

Hi my name's Rachel from the blog, Lines Across. I am a mom of two kids, Benjamin (3) and Lyla (23 months). You can follow me on Facebook here.

As a crafty person living in a small house with two young kids, two cats, and a husband, it's definitely a struggle to keep things clean. I almost always have some sort of project out on a desk or tabletop. In fact, right now, I have a handful of balloons hanging from the shutters in our kitchen.

That being said, I think that it is so important to help teach your kids to clean up and be organized. We have made a point of keeping the kids' rooms clean and organized, and we want them to be a part of it. For me, the most important part of this is having good storage for toys. We got these bins from IKEA, and we love them. Every toy has a place in one of these colorful bins. My son, Benjamin, knows what toys go where, and he always wants to make sure that everything is in the right place.

We try to encourage him to clean up the toys he was playing with before he moves on to another room or another activity, but sometimes we are in a hurry or forget to remind Benjamin. That's why we have made clean-up time a consistent part of bedtime... after brushing teeth and right before we curl up and read a book together. It works well because my little 3 year old is of course looking for ways to stall going to bed and is always happy to help clean up his toys. Sometimes we even come up with games like lego basketball, color sorting, counting, or a reenactment of an episode of Thomas. Even though our house is never perfect, and there is always some chore that needs to be done, it feels so good to tuck my kids in at night in clean and organized rooms.
