Valentine's Day, also called Saint Valentine's Day or the Feast of Saint Valentine, is celebrated every year on February 14. Valentine's Day originated as a Christian feast day honoring the Christian martyr and, through later folk traditions, has become a significant cultural, religious, and commercial celebration of romance and love in many regions of the world. In the 17th century, it became common for friends and significant others to exchange small gifts and handwritten notes in Great Britain. Eventually, the tradition made its way to the New World and during the 19th century, along with the Industrial Revolution came factory-made Valentine's Day cards.
