Having Fun In The Kitchen With Your Kids

When you think of cooking with your children, you might think of all the mess involved and the time spent preparing and then cleaning up. Of course, It is much easier to get the cooking done yourself, but you will miss out on a fabulous bonding and learning experience with your children. Not only will you be passing on a valuable skill to your children- teaching them how to nourish themselves and other people, but you will also be creating memories in the kitchen that they will probably never forget.

Unfortunately, cooking from scratch is a tradition that has been somewhat forgotten in our fast-food culture. The ability to cook fresh ingredients and create dishes from scratch is a skill that our grandparents would have had, but increasingly is disappearing from society. IT is important to maintain our food culture, and to be able to be self-sufficient in the kitchen.

Cook's Companion Wonder Pot Review & Giveaway

I have mentioned that one of my new year resolutions was to cook at home more. And so far, I have been sticking to it, but there are times when I just don't feel like cooking. I want to be able to whip up a quick, delicious meal that my family will love without doing to much work. I want to be able to just throw stuff into a pot and go.

I was recently introduced to Cook's Companion Digital Wonder Pot through Phoenix Trading Company. The Wonder Pot is a part rice cooker, part steam cooker and even does soups and baking. It is very easy to use and clean. It has a ton of great settings. The digital controls are simple to program and feature an “Automatic Warm” setting that allows you keep your food warm during the day so your meal is fresh and ready to eat when you want it.

I received complimentary products to share this recipe. All opinions are my own.

I recently received the Very Healthy Spiral Slicer from Varietyland to review and some Tuttorosso products, so I thought I would recreate this recipe. It was a little more complicated than I tend to cook, but I was able to do it. t was also a little on the pricey side, but so are healthier meal options. My picture looks NOTHING like the original, but this meal was still super yummy. Hubby wants to add it to our regular recipes...I said, "We'll see."

I decided to make the Creamy Lemon Chicken.

Looks awesome right? Well it was. You could taste the lemon without the overbearing sour taste that can sometimes come from them.

Easy, peasy cooked chicken!

I used the recipe that you can find online HERE. The chicken was juicy and the sauce was creamy but not watery. We added veggies as a side as well. And I had to use whole wheat flour but it turned out great! And what makes this recipe even more tasty was the fact that it was so easy to make!

Progresso and MyBlogSpark also gave me a Progresso Recipe Starters kit to giveaway!
Here is what you could win! Not only will you win everything here, but also a $10 Visa gift card to use to buy your other ingredients with.

Making My Life Harder

Now, I would just like to point out the fact that I love my husband and my dog very much. With that said, today was a rough day, I didn't get alot of sleep last night, there were many new chores to do at work because the kids were going to their grandparents' house, plus I have been sick. So when I got off early, I was very excited and thinking I'm going to go home and take a well deserved nap.

My dog has been acting out lately by going to the bathroom on the floor and getting into the trash. I think he knows something is different with me. Wait until this baby comes, his whole world is going to change. But since he has been doing this, we have been putting him up when we're not here. Well, my husband forgot today so the dog got into the trash. I wish I had a picture of the mess he made, it was ridiculous. And thing is, my husband had pulled it out and tied it off to take it out and dog still got into it. I knew something was up when I saw him lying in his pin on his own (he knew he had done something wrong).

Well then to make matters worse, my husband had made lunch/dinner for himself but left me with the mess. This is also the same man who cleaned out his car and put everything in the middle of the living room floor. It wasn't trash, just clothes and such but guess who had to clean it up. There is still some stuff that I didn't know where to put, so he 'organized it' by shoving it up against the wall.

I think this is one of the biggest things we fight over. Cleaning up after yourself. I feel if I was a stay at home wife that I would do more because I would feel like that was my job but I have a full time job already. I agree he works more but some things are just ridiculous. When he needs a pair of clean pants, he informs me instead of doing it himself. Really?! Like he doesn't have two hands.

And what am I doing now? Making lausage so he has lunch for next week because he's on vacation. How messed up in the head am I?
