Navigating The Journey Together - Become a CF Champion

My mother has been having medical issues for years now. She had a very difficult time breathing, constantly had a wheezing cough, and was constantly having tummy issues. She even had to quit her job as a teacher, which was her one passion. Her life was miserable, until she saw her doctor, went through multiple tests, and was finally diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis.

That diagnosis changed her life. Although it was devastating news, she was grateful that she knew what the problem was, and could now work on fixing it. With her strict daily medication regiment and support from amazing programs like Walgreens Cystic Fibrosis CF Champions "Navigating The Journey Together", she is on her way to some normalcy again. It’s companies and organization like this that help those with Cystic Fibrosis to learn how to best handle their disease, offer medication and therapy advice, aid in the confusing nature of insurance, and offer patient assistance to make life wonderful again.

What is Cystic Fibrosis?
This is a really complicated, lifelong condition that affects the daily life of the patients it infects. Cystic Fibrosis affect the digestive and respiratory systems. With treatment and adhering to a medication ritual daily, patients can live wonderful lives, while carrying this disorder. Due to their increased risk of infection and cross-contamination, many patients are isolated from others. Patients frequently report high levels of depression and anxiety, which can greatly impact disease severity and outcomes, actively following medication regimens and understanding of CF.

If you know someone suffering from Cystic Fibrosis, offer them the help that my mother counts on. Let them be a CF Champion, and fall in love with the wonderful resources that Walgreens has to offer. Keeping a healthy diet, ritually taking medication suited for you (and learning how to administer them), watching for signs of depression and maintaining a great support system can help you lead a normal, happy and healthy life.

Navigate the Journey Together, with Walgreens, and let them show you that CF doesn’t have to slow you down in life, because there are resources and support out there! Become a CF Champion!

  1. Wow! I've heard of others being diagnosed later in life as CF becomes more well known. I'm thankful for the newborn screening in our state which diagnosed my son with CF at 8 days old. I'm happy to hear that your mother is able to properly take care of her health now and wish her all the best!

    1. We don't have one here. It's crazy it was an issue for so long, went undiagnosed, and unseen for so long. I can't remember a time in my life that she hasn't had issues. At first they thought it was a misdiagnosis, but treatment seems to be helping.

  4. My daughter's best friend in elementary school had CF. When she would have sleepovers at our house, there was a treatment I had to do for her in the mornings. My daughter still keeps in touch with her and she is on the very long list for a lung transplant

  5. I can't imagine having a child with Cystic Fibrosis. I did have a friend years ago who had nephews who had this.
