Uses of Coconut Oil for Baby

I received complimentary products to provide this post. All opinions are my own.

I was recently introduced to coconut oil by my sister-in-law as a treatment for diaper rash and then I started doing a little research and found that there are SO MANY uses of coconut oil for natural remedies. I recently had the opportunity to review some and so I decided to share the many uses I have found.

1. To treat cradle cap - That super obnoxious scaly skin that although doesn't hurt your baby, can block the hair follicles from growing well.

2. Use with a carrier oil to apply lavender for sleep aid - Lavender essential oil is an amazing tool in helping your baby go to sleep peacefully without any side effects.

3. To treat diaper rash - Using coconut oil to treat diaper rash is a safer alternative that can also be used with your cloth diapers.

4. In place of lanolin for nursing nipples - I used lanolin cream, but using coconut oil is a cheaper alternative.

5. For sunscreen - Since babies cant use sunscreen until 6 months old, this is a great alternative! And there are so many recipes you can make using coconut oil.

6. To increase milk supply and nutrients, take 3-4 tablespoons a day with Vitamin D - I wasn't aware of this use, but it would have been good to know especially with my daughter.

7. Homemade vapor rub - Again there are so many different recipes online that make products safer for your little one (and you can use them too!).

8. Homemade baby lotion - Coconut oil has so many benefits for your skin. And it's gentle enough for your little.

9. Bug repellent - Babies can't use most bug repellents under ONE year old, but when you make a homemade recipe with coconut oil and an essential oil like peppermint, then you make a great combo that fights off pests and is safe for baby.

I recently received Fractionated Coconut Oil from La Vida Essentials to review. It came with a pump for easy application and a free e-book with 33 recipes as well. It is non-greasy, pure therapeutic grade, and fragrance free. Perfect carrier oil for spa massage, sensual massage, hot stone massage & aromatherapy treatment. I also used it to apply to my scalp to help treat my dandruff and it worked like a dream. It is a natural antioxidant and disinfectant and does not clog pores. Plus they have a risk-free LIFETIME guarantee, so if you are unhappy there is a 100% money back.

Do you use coconut oil? Do you know of any other uses of coconut oil for baby? What do you think of La Vida Fractionate Coconut Oil?

  3. Wow so many uses never thought of! I only used on hair as my hair gets too dry and coconut oil adds moisture. I loved the bug repellent one best, never realized it could be so useful. I will be putting mine now to better use. Thanks for sharing.

  7. We love coconut oil. I use it as a carrier oil, for dry skin, for oil pulling, infections, and so much more. I hadn't used it for bug repellent though. That's a great idea.

  9. I had no idea that coconut oil had so many uses, much less so many for babies. I think my favorite use is as a sunscreen alternative. Very cool! I also love the bug repellent idea!

  13. I did not know you could use it as non-toxic bug repellent. I will have to try it this summer when we camp. I used Coconut oil to treat my infant's dry cracked skin, it worked wonders.

  15. I have tried regular coconut oil for various purposes, but I haven't yet tried fractionated. I want to, because I read it doesn't tend to stain clothing like regular coconut oil, for when you are using it on your skin. I want to try it!

  16. We use coconut oil for a lot of things around here. I found out that it is great for cats.... keeps their coat shiny and soft, and helps lube the inside so they dont get hairballs as often
