Happy 3 Months, Peanut!

Can you believe he is 3 months old? Or that I still haven't posted his birth story? It's written down, I promise.

He weighs 13.5 lbs as of today (according to the Wii). I have no idea how tall he is. He is a chunk! He has gained 6 lbs 2 ounces since birth so he has almost doubled his birth weight of 7lbs3oz. He's so rolley poley. Bath time takes longer because I have to get in & clean every roll. He is taking his MAM pacifiers better. Officially in size 2 diapers as of Wednesday (only because I was trying to use up all the opened size 1s). Weight wise they say he should still be in 1s, but because of his chunky thighs & ability to soak through we upgraded him. And in 3-6 months clothes, although I am trying to get more use out his Ninja Turtle and Batman onesies.

He squeaks when he sleeps because he is either A. About to cry. Or B. Laughing. Both of which are super cute.

He's not a scaredy pants like his big sister was, but he randomly gets startled by the strangest things & then it near impossible to console him.

He has this thing about his tongue. He usually has it out when he smiles. Also adorable.

He is soooo close to rolling over. He is strong enough, but just can't quite figure it out.

Three months exclusively on breastmilk! Yay! He's teething. So as a breastfeeding mom that has been...fun...

He gets VERY hungry really quick because he will sleep too long. If I don't wake him up, I have to pump and feed him a bottle. The sound of the pump calms (unlike SweetPea) so that helps. I have a double electric pump and I think one of the pumps is dying. Not good.

SweetPea has taken it upon herself to tell me she likes my boobs whenever she sees me without a shirt on. How does she say it? "Mommy, I like your milk."

Nursing a newborn has left an impression on my three year old. The picture below was taken March 24th. So Peanut was almost three weeks old. He had never had a bottle at this point. So my daughter is learning that we are mammals, where milk for babies comes from, and that only woman can feed babies from their bodies.
It was VERY funny when she told Daddy to feed Peanut from his boobies. :)

Ignore the realness of life in the background.

She is taking on her big sister role like a champ. She has been a little more whiny and sometimes a bit more clingy. But as I have set in a groove of having two, she has started to get better. It has been a learning curve for both of us.

Peanut has started giggling when you tickle his sides, so she LOVES playing with him more now.

The Hubby has been amazing this time around. We take turns on putting SweetPea to bed and he changes at least one diaper a day. That is a HUGE improvement from when SweetPea was a baby and a GINORMOUS help to me. Peanut is still poop machine, so the relief of just one diaper a day helps a ton.

I am still trying to figure out how to manage this blogging thing and taking care of two kids. Now that school is out, I can officially say that SweetPea will start school next year! OMG! 3K here she comes!

As far as sleeping at night, Peanut sleeps like a champ! He takes three naps  day, usually one LONG one during the middle. He will sleep while we run errands and is still very chill as long as he is fed.

My mother-in-law decided to have an impromptu spent the night over with SweetPea on Tuesday, so the Hubby, Peanut, and I went to Red Lobster (since SweetPea is allergic to shell fish). It was fun and Peanut did great! He was awake the whole time we were eating, but didn't cry once!

All in all, life has been very well. No signs of post-partum depression this time. And I think I have blogging to help with that. Although I did pretty much the same thing a stay-at-home does when I was a nanny, it was hard adjusting to being at home with just a baby. But now I have a goal and I think having an older child is helping too.

That was an update on us, so have you been? :)

Make sure to follow us Instagram because I'm better about posting pictures over there. :)

  2. I've been patiently waiting to read his birth story! Glad bottles are working and breastfeeding is going so well! My other girls never BF their babies, but E does it all the time. I have to wait to get a picture.

  4. Congratulations Mama!! What a great milestone :) The first 3 months was hard for me with all 3 of my nurslings. It seemed like when we hit 3 months they suddenly started going longer between feedings and their colic and reflux disappeared. It's an amazing milestone! Thanks for linking up :)

    1. I agree. I breastfed my daughter for 14 months and the first few were the hardest. I had supply issues with her and I blame letting ignorance get in my way. But I've learned my lesson and I've done better this time. :)

      And thanks for hosting!
