5 Reasons To Reupholster Furniture #drsofa

5 Reasons to Upholster Furniture

If your furniture is showing signs of wear, you may think it’s time to toss it. But not so fast, this can be wasteful and expensive. Instead of replacing worn furniture, you may try to have it reupholstered instead.

The transformation that can occur with re-upholstery is truly amazing. And as long as your furniture is still structurally strong and sound, you can give it new life by reupholstering it.

1. Save Money:
This is my number one reason! New furniture can be costly, especially when you have champagne taste, but a beer budget. Often your existing furniture still has many more years of life in it, except for the surface wear. In these cases, you can save money by reupholstering your high quality furniture instead of replacing it when it isn’t structurally necessary. Even when hiring an expert reupholster company, like Dr. Sofa, to do the work, the cost is usually less than it would be to replace your furniture with all new pieces.

2. Save Your Furniture:
When you love your furniture, but you can’t stand the unsightly wear, reupholster can be the ideal solution. Sometimes the style and lines of your current furniture become so familiar that you just can’t stand the idea of parting with your comfortable old couch or chair. In this case, you can have new life breathed into the tired furniture through re-upholstery, making it possible to continue using it for many more years. If your house is anything like mine, then you have rambunctious little ones that jump on everything and may need to reupholster couch cushions and pillows.

3. Preserve Antiques:
If you have antique furniture that needs some help, re-upholstery can be an effective method for preserving these pieces. To ensure that you don’t damage or destroy the furniture in the upholstery process, find a professional who specializes in reupholstering antique furniture. Dr. Sofa specializes in re-upholstery of all types.

4. Choose Your Fabrics:
Sometimes your interior decor needs just the right color or design, and this can be difficult to find in the ready-made furniture market. Instead of purchasing new furniture that won’t fit into your existing decor, consider reupholstering. The reupholster process will enable you to select just the fabric you want that will fit your design and decor scheme.

5. Learn New Skills:
If you have the time and inclination, you can learn this skill yourself. But why when Dr. Sofa has the skills already and tons of coupons to bring the cost down even further!

5 Tips for Baby Proofing {SANUS TV Mount Giveaway}

Prize fulfillment provided by SANUS. All thoughts are my own.

Child Safety Baby Proofing Advice Tips

Child Safety and Baby Proofing go hand in hand. We want our little ones to be safe. But there may be some things we don't know. Here are my tips for Baby Proofing. And an awesome giveaway from SANUS.

1. Get Down On Your Child's Eye Level: First thing you should do is get down on your hands and knees and see what is in your child's eye line. One of the things we think of as parents is the plug outlets, but what about those outlets that just have to have something plugged in it? I recently had the opportunity to test out the Secure-Connect Outlet Safety. I use my 'work' laptop in our living room because I seem to get more work done when I am on my laptop instead of the iPad. Issue: it needs a new battery so it has to stay plugged in. And although using my laptop is beneficial in one way, I worry that the girls will unplug it and some how hurt themselves. So I have seen many of the benefits of this unique safety item.

2. Think About The Next Stage: So your child's crawling, but what comes next? Pulling up. And oh that coffee table with jagged edges looks really great to use to pull up on, Mom! My friend Liz over at Funny PostPartum Lady shared a review of Roving Cove Safe Corner Cushion. What is so cool is they also make items for the fancy glass round table that you may have thought was a good idea when you bought your living room set.

3. Think About Daily Chores: Okay so you have to feed these people, right? And does your oven get hot? What about if they grab the handle. The toilet sure looks like fun to take a dive in. I am a HUGE fan of baby gates and shut doors with covers on the handles to solve these issues. We have a Summer Infant Sure & Secure Walk Thru gate for our kitchen. When I'm cooking, no little ones are allowed in. And as far as the covers on the door knobs, Hubby got over them quickly and realized they were a necessity, yours will too.

4. Consider a Curious Mind: Children get themselves in every kind of predicament you can imagine. So try and think on their level when baby proofing. Consider every detail and what they might use to put in their mouth, untie, wrap around, etc.

5. Look Up: What do you see? Ooo the bright colors on the TV sure look fun to try and touch!
For many Americans, a flat panel TV is a great way to enjoy family time and entertainment. However, most parents are unaware of the safety risks that flat panel TVs pose for kids. Due to increasing size and new ultra thin designs, today’s flat panel TVs can easily tip over when bumped or pulled, toppling off of furniture and causing injury or even death. In fact, A 2011 US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) report on flat panel TV safety revealed a child is killed every three weeks from an unsecured TV! Yes, killed! From a television falling on them. And, every 45 minutes a child visits an emergency room due to a TV tip-over related injury. Reported cases have increased almost 25% from 2006 to 2010, and over the last 10 years, injuries have increased by 31%.

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of White Cloud for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
When you reach for a tissue box, you probably don’t stop to think about the story behind it: how it was designed, how it was made, or who designed it, and who made it.

New White Cloud® Facial Tissue boxes might make you stop and think.
Adorned with bright colors, polka dots, sunshine and lions, the new designs weren’t created by just any old artists. They were imagined and illustrated by three talented kids at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals®.
Children's Miracle Network gives money to local hospitals that are part of their network. The hospitals know where the need is greatest and decide how that money is best spent. Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals funds are often used to purchase equipment and pay for uncompensated care, all in support of CMN mission to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
White Cloud teamed up with CMN Hospitals in January and asked the kids receiving treatment there to design the new White Cloud Facial Tissue boxes. The top 10 submissions were posted to the White Cloud Facebook Page where fans had the opportunity to vote for their favorite design.
The three designs that received the most votes are coming to life on White Cloud Facial Tissue boxes and became available for sale for a limited time beginning May 24 through this month. You can find out where you can purchase these exclusive boxes at White Cloud Store Locator. White Cloud is also going to make a $15,000 donation to each of the winning artist’s hospitals. How amazing is that?!
In the up coming July issue of All You Magazine, you will be able to find a $0.75 off coupon for White Cloud. You can also follow along on the White Cloud Twitter Page and the White Cloud Pinterest Page as well.

Skype Keeps Families In Touch

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Skype. As always all opinions are 100% my own.

You’ve heard of Skype, right? Skype is a versatile online phone service, that allows for instant message-type conversations, audio and even video conferencing.

In 2003, I was a Junior in high school. My brother had joined the army and was working in Korea. My father had a stroke that same year. I felt alone and really needed someone to talk to, someone who could relate because they were feeling what I was feeling. I would write to my brother, but I wish there was a communications software available to us. Skype is an amazing program that let's families call each other online so they can always keep in touch.

Every vacation my in-laws go on, they ask us to stay connected through Skype so they don't miss a beat with their ever-growing grandbabies.

Please watch the following video and let me know your thoughts.

What did you think? This video is especially sweet that he was able to see his family and for once, have a family portrait. Skype is known around the world for helping people stay close whenever they’re apart. And that is truly amazing.

Enter to Win a Vera Bradley from Rite Aid with #Tugaboos

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Rite Aid Tugaboos diapers. As always all opinions are 100% my own.

Sweet Pea is currently potty training and although we aren't completely diaper-less during the day quite yet, she still uses diapers during every nap and at night.

Rite Aid Tugaboos Diapers

I have never purchased Rite Aid Tugaboos Diapers before. I honestly had never heard of this specific brand. But when I received the opportunity to try out their diapers that have been recently improved for added leakage protection and faster absorption, I jumped at the chance!

Rite Aid Tugaboos

I am always looking for a superior quality diaper that has a great value. And Tugaboos passed the test. Sweet Pea is allergic to some brands of diapers, so I love that Tugaboos have a hypoallergenic inner liner. Their soft stretchable waist and side panels, excellent leakage protection, and cottony soft feel make them a GREAT value. I really enjoyed testing these out with Sweet Pea and I loved the super cute designs. I love the sweet little tiger on the size four diapers we received. Sweet Pea has wore them all night, every night since we have received them and she has not had any leaking issues. But what I'm really excited to share with all of you is this Tugaboos and Vera Bradley Sweepstakes!
