Getting Ready for Dragon*Con {Wordful Wednesday LINKY}

This year will mark my husband's and mine's 13 year going to Dragon*Con together. What is Dragon*Con? Only the Southeast's largest sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming convention. Yup, we have been going every year for over a decade and this will make my daughter's 5th and my son's 4th. We love the parade and the different panels. But I think my favorite part is dressing up and looking at everyone else's costumes as well. This year our costumes were sponsored by Oriental Trading.

Adventures at Dragon*Con 2015 #BehindTheBlogger

My family and I went to Dragon*Con over Labor Day weekend. If you don't know what Dragon*Con is, it's the Southeast's largest sci-fi, fantasy, and gaming convention. This made my 10th year going. This was the first year that we got our own hotel room (didn't share with friends), brought the kids, and were able to go the whole weekend. It starts on Friday and ends on Monday, but most people get there on Thursday (like we did).

Thursday with Storm Troopers. Friday with The Pirate Fairy and Rapunzel.

I babywore a LOT. Thank goodness for my LILLEbaby. I got a lot of comments about it. Some just admired how cute he was, some said how hard it must be to bring kids to con, and then there were just random comments. I enjoyed it though. It was a great way to carry him around and he would get so excited when he saw me start putting the carrier on. It was really cute.

Yes, those are Star Wars suck pads. :D

Dragon*Con has changed a lot since we have had children.

Getting Ready for Dragon*Con {Wordless Wednesday LINKY}

Our yearly adventure to Dragon*Con is in 8 DAYS! I can not wait! We actually have our own hotel room and are staying the entire weekend this year. Dragon*Con if you don't know, is the southeast's largest sci-fi convention.
SweetPea already had her Elsa dress, she got it for Christmas from my mom, but Peanut got his Olaf costumer from Oriental Trading. Look for a full review soon! :) I also got some new suck pads for my LILLEbaby carrier. I'm using it because it all black and matches better, but also because it's an air flow so I feel like it will be cooler. The suck pads are Star Wars themed and oh so cute! Don't worry I will make to share a picture. I am so excited for this year.

Showing Our #DisneySide at Dragon*Con 2014!

This past weekend we made our annual trip up to Atlanta to go to the amazing Sci-Fi & Fantasy Convention known as Dragon*Con! This was my 9th Dragon*Con and I always look forward to it each year.

This was our first year actually seeing the Parade. Sweet Pea's first Dragon*Con, we tried to see the parade but arrived too late and it was too crowded. I was smart this year and carrier Peanut in my lillebaby carrier because I knew from that experience that a stroller just doesn't work in the crowd.

I dressed Peanut up as Goofy. Found this gem at Babies-R-Us for only $5. SweetPea wanted to wear her Ariel dress that she received as a gift for Christmas. (Disney Princess Ariel Doll and Toddler Dress Gift Set* ) She is loving The Little Mermaid these days.

♪The Simpsons♬

My husband has always has an obsession with "The Simpsons". Although he doesn't watch any of the newer episodes (the show just isn't what it use to be), he went and saw the movie at midnight the day it came out in theaters and he has dressed as Homer for the past four years (this past year he decided to switch it up by going as Zombie Homer) at Dragon*Con.

"The Simpsons" - Lisa's First Word

I don't know if you are familiar with this program, but the oldest child, Bart, always calls the dad, Homer, by his first name. In the episode, "Lisa's First Word", Homer tries to get Bart to call him Daddy but he seems to call him Homer out of defiance.

And I think that something has kind of hit Hubby a little too close to home(r) and although at first he thought it was cute because it reminded him of The Simpsons, I think it has started to bother him, because I know it bothers me.

SweetPea calls him by his first name. Just as Bart did with Homer. She has to be reminded to call him Daddy. We have always called each other mommy and daddy around her, so we can't figure out where it's coming from. The only thing I can think of is, my friend's little girl has learned to call him by his first name and I think SweetPea is picking up on this as well.

I think the reason he feels bad is because he works such long hours. When SweetPea was a baby, it seemed every time he would hold her, she would cry. I feel guilty because she only calls me Diana when B is around. But "The Homer Phase" has leaked into an every day, most of the time occurrence.

Did your little one ever go through a phase like this? Do you have any tips on how we could possibly handle it? We kindly correct her, now, but she continues to do it. Any suggestions?

BTW Sweet Pea is 28 months old today. :)

Anyways here are some of my favorite pictures of them. Yes there are a lot. But they are just so cute together:

This week's Wednesday's Weekly Weigh-in will also be Motivational Monday since I apparently took it off for Labor Day. I am still at a plateau and that is probably because of Dragon*Con and eating WAY unhealthy. But since I mentioned Dragon*Con, this weeks (LATE) Motivational Monday is:

Rock your inner NERD!

I love Dragon*Con. Even in the huge mass of people, I feel safe. It is where I belong. I am so grateful that my husband and LDOD introduced me to the awesomeness that is Dragon*Con.

Dragon*Con is a place where everyone gets together and it doesn't matter if you a fan of Star Wars, Star Trek, or just there to party...or even a random Auburn fan, you are welcomed.

While waiting in the ridiculous line to get our badges, the hubby and enjoyed conversations with people of all fandoms and nationalities. People that didn't necessarily agree with our politics but listened to our point of view and were respectful throughout the entire conversation.

I sound so cheesy when I say this, but: Why can't everyday be like Dragon*Con? And everyone be like Con-goers?

Don't be afraid of who you are.

As the wise Dr. Seuss once said:

"Be who are and say what you feel, because those who mind, don't matter and those who matter, don't mind."

A Nerd In Training

We took Sweet Pea to her first Dragon*Con. Dragon*Con is a yearly sic-fi convention we attend every year.

One of my dear friends from when I was on the Atlanta Rocky Horror cast, Lips Down On Dixie, sent Sweet Pea this onesie and I adore it. Lips Down on Dixie performs at Dragon*Con every year.

This was taken the next day. SweetPea went as Aurora or Sleeping Beauty as you none Disnerds might call her. :) Hubby is yellow because he went as Homer from The Simpsons the night before.

26 weeks and Dragon*Con 2010

Friday we headed to Atlanta for our annual con-going to DRAGON*CON!!! It's fun to people watch. Greg as a last minute costume dressed up as Popeye, the outfit was one of our friend's who is about 4 pants sizes smaller than Greg, so he was Popeye after the steroids wore off. When they tried to squeeze the shirt on him, he had red marks. People loved it though, even though they weren't asking for pictures, there were many random ones of his tooshie! Don't worry he had underwear on.

Saturday we couldn't go. So I shaved Greg's head and we got our costumes ready. I also was officially 26 weeks along. Info on this week:

How long baby is. :]:

Sunday, I went to the store for some last minute items for our costumes. Then I picked up Greg from work and headed up to Dragon*Con again! I wore my shirt I made, the Wario (costume I planned to go as) overalls didn't fit my big behind. :) Greg dressed up as Homer again and everyone loved!

Ofcourse the night was great until on the way home I got a ticket by a rude cop who was wrong. He gave me a ticket for failure to yield to pedestrians. I believe he was looking for drunk drivers. He turned on his lights and start to do a u-turn behind before I even crossed the cross walk. I waited for the people to get on the curb. And he still gave me a ticket anyways. I'm going to fight it. Ofcourse it's our word against his but he is an [bad word] cop who gets his jollys off on pulling people over.

So all-in-all it was an up and down Labor Day Weekend.
