Trying to conceive can be a long, heart-breaking experience for some. But if you are on the outside looking in, you may not realize how to respond. Someone you know may be dealing with issues of trying to conceive and you may not even know it. Here are some tips to help.

Take the issue seriously. Sometimes our initial reaction can be to make light of a situation, especially when the person feels uncomfortable. But the person on the receiving end of your comments can just feel worse like what they are experiencing is a big joke to you.

Don't complain about your own pregnancy. Or past ones or complain about your kids. A woman who is trying to get pregnant wants more than anything to be in your shoes. She would gladly take your morning sickness, swollen ankles, and aching back instead for dealing with infertility. When you complain, you sound ungrateful.

Be understanding. It can be hard to be understanding when you have never experienced something yourself, but try to imagine how you would feel if you were in their situation.

Be Supportive. The decisions she has made about her fertility are most likely doctor recommended. But uncertainty is an unfortunate part of the process. TTC couples often question their own judgment and having a strong support system will keep them from feeling overwhelmed.

I didn't struggle with infertility like so many ladies do.... we did use an ovulation kit for getting preggo with both of my children. I thought I knew when I ovulated, but the kit showed me that I was off on my timing. It was very helpful for me! I plan to use another one when we try for #3. :)

  5. Yes. I have a son who is 9 from a previous relationship. My husband (of almost two years) and I have been pregnant twice and miscarried each time. We're not sure why, as we've each produced children with someone else before and really want one (or more!) together. Fertility treatments are expensive and not an option right now. :( Would love to try this!

  10. We are on month 13 of TTC with no luck. We do have other kids so that makes it hard for me to talk to other people about it. I feel like they think I am selfish or something.
