Looking for gift ideas for a truck loving kid? I don't like to over buy or overwhelm for Christmas, but I do purchase based on the idea of something you want, something you need, something to wear, something to read.

Something to Read at Christmas for Truck Loving Kids

My family and I were recently sent "Twenty Big Trucks in the Middle of Christmas" Hardcover by Mark Lee and illustrated by Kurt Cyrus. The creative team that conceived Twenty Big Trucks in the Middle of the Street wants to add a big dose of Christmas cheer to an array of trucks for counting with the components of read-aloud holiday magic.

One doughnut truck, on a cold winter day, drives into town and parks and stays.

The snowy town is filling up with a procession of trucks of all shapes and sizes, including a snowplow, a crane, a digger, a semitrailer transporting the town’s majestic Christmas tree, and even a flatbed carrying Santa’s sleigh. All in all, twenty trucks roll in full of sparkle and anticipation, ready to set up the holiday festivities. But when the star being hoisted to the top of the Christmas tree wobbles and crashes to the ground, what could possibly be used to replace it? Thankfully, a pair of siblings scan the scene and come up with the perfect solution.

This is a fun read that we have added to our nightly bedtime routine. My son is seven (second grade) and still loves cars, trucks, and anything that goes. He loves watching videos of cars racing on treadmills. He has recently join cub scouts and I can't wait for the pinewood derby. My son is working on his reading and the literation in this book is encouraging him to read along.

This over-sized, hard-backed picture book has bright, colorful illustrations that glow with the spirit of Christmas. Children will love seeing new items and trucks appear with the turn of a page, along with what each truck does, or what is dropped off. But what they will really love, is when the Christmas display is finished complete with glowing lights, animals, songs, and food. Children preschool through second grade will really enjoy this book, and as an added bonus, it will help them improve their counting to twenty! My son has been asking to read this book nightly and also keeps trying to read along since the rhythmic tone makes this such a fun read.

One of my favorite Christmas traditions is giving my children a Christmas Eve basket that is filled with fun things to do and fun holiday books to read. This read makes a great addition to any Christmas Eve basket. And to celebrate this very fun read, I have created this fun Christmas truck printable for you to enjoy! All you have to do is click the image below to save and print. Please feel free to tag me on social media if your kiddos color it. I love to see their creations.

Do you know a truck loving little one? What do you think of this book?
