Our Christmas Eve Basket

Do you have any Christmas Eve Traditions? I have put together a little basket that I have been wanting to do for years, but never seemed to get around to it. But this year I finally got it all together and you get to see what is in our Christmas Eve Basket.

Christmas Eve Basket Ideas

Since we do my mother-in-law's side on Christmas Eve now, I'm giving my kiddos their Christmas Eve basket early.

Pajamas: Each year the kids get holiday themed matching pajamas. One year, I ordered matching PJ's from an online co-op Facebook Group, but you could very easily find some at bigger retailers, like Gymboree, Amazon, or even Oriental Trading! These Toy Story/Minnie Mouse ones are from there and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality. I have also found some at PatPat.com and LazyOneInc. I'm excited because this year, all the cousins are going to match. Don't forget the fuzzy socks!

Books: Reading The Night Before Christmas is an every year tradition, but I love gifting them new books too.
The Night Lights Went Out on Christmas by Ellis Paul
Llama Llama Holiday Drama by Anna Dewdney
Mrs. Wishy-Washy's Christmas by Joy Cowley
The Night Before Christmas (our version is illustrated by Bruce Whatley)

Christmas Pajamas, Reindeer Food, Santa cookies

Reindeer Food: Since SweetPea has been in school, we have put out reindeer food for Santa's reindeers. We made ours at my daughter's Christmas party for school, but you could very easily make it as well with some bird seed and sprinkles for the magic. Here's a GREAT recipe for Reindeer Food.

A Christmas Movie: We have Netflix and watch a ton of goodies on there. But we have The Grinch on DVD and it is a Christmas Eve favorite. Check out some of our faves on Netflix.

Cookie Mix: Whatever kind you choose, your kiddos will love making cookies for Santa because I know mine do. I love buying cookie decorating kits from my local cookie shop or even some that are already designed. And of course, some hot cocoa as well.

A Holiday Craft: I also like to add a special day of craft. One year we made candy cane ornaments and another year we made snowflake ornaments. I like making crafts that can be keepsakes as well, but are still easy enough for all the family members to enjoy together.

Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions? Do you sit out a Christmas Eve basket for your kiddos?
