Look on the positive side of things, we don't have to spend a small fortune buying new school clothes. All jokes aside, I was honestly devastated when I heard the news that we would be starting "virtual learning until further notice" because my son doesn't do well with me teaching him. He needs his eager classmates and the guidance of someone who knows how to handle a child with a short attention span. But if this means that my child won't get this virus, then that is what I have to do and what needs to be done. So my back-to-school shopping guide has to look a lot different this year and that's okay. The thing that stinks is I still have supplies at my child's school from last semester.
1. Masks. With stores deciding to require masks, this is an essential item if you choose to not stay home. I said I would send my kid in a hazmat suit if need be, but I guess that is no longer an option. But seriously, I suggest adjustable masks like from MaskMarket.com, Old Navy, and Target also have some cheap options.
2. The Essentials like Pencils, Paper, & Craft Supplies.
Crayola's New Project Line a line of project supplies that offers color and coverage for a variety of creative ideas whether it's for a science fair project, homework assignment, or DIY craft.

Available in 24 bright colors and an awesome price make it easy to add some fabulous fun to your child’s school day. Scribble Stuff also makes popular gel pens and scented gel pens. Available in assorted packs at Walmart, Target, and Amazon.com.

3. Organization. Getting all of your essentials organized will be key. We just have some simple book bins in different colors on our counter, but if you don't have the counter space then I suggest these rolling household carts. I love the idea of everything being in whatever room you decide to work in that day.
4. Calendar/ Agenda. Setting up a schedule for my daughter was the best thing I could have done to help keep her track and let me focus on teaching my son. I used her school agenda to write the assignments that were due that day or ones due at the end of the week. I found a great agenda for kids on Amazon. I personally use a dry erase calendar and an agenda for myself as well to keep me on track with my work from home business. I used the time to teach my child about self-management. It was purely accidental, but she has the perfect personality for it and it helped me in the long run.
5. Hand Sanitizer. This is still and always will be on my back-to-school shopping guide. Regardless of whether we are in school, homeschooling, or virtual learning at home.
6. Blue Light Glasses. When my son was getting his glasses, blue light lens were recommended for him. I never saw the need for my daughter, but at the end of a virtual learning day her eyes would be so tired looking. She would need frequent breaks because how much the light was hurting her eyes. So these are definitely something I am recommending this year.
7. Cheap Kids Tablet. Mashable has a great list of Best Tablets for Kids in 2020, with the Amazon Fire HD 8 Kids Edition tablet being number (you can find the 7 version for only $50 though).
8. Wireless Head Phones. CozyPhones is my favorite headphones for kids especially since they don't go in their ears. Plus they just came out with a line of wireless headband headphones.

This year, I think one of the best back to school essentials is educating your child about how to stay safe both travelling to and from school and while they are in classes.
