Experience Gift Ideas to Give Kids INSTEAD of Toys This Christmas

I don't know about you, but I'm over toys. The overwhelming amount of toys in house is getting to be a little much. And the fact that the kids beg for a toy and then it gets donated the following year is depressing and annoying. My children would rather spend their time with the people they love more than getting toys. Memories will last so much longer than this season's hottest toy. I have been wanting to share the gift ideas for a while because I think people are willing to gift the joy of experiences, they just don't know where to start. So I have compiled the long list of experience gift ideas to give kids instead of toys this holiday season that they will actually enjoy.

1. Zoo Membership or Tickets. Find a local zoo near you.
2. Aquarium Membership or Tickets.
3. Painting Classes
4. Horse Riding Lessons
5. Disney On Ice
6. Tickets or Membership to Local Amusement Parks
7. Trampoline Park Tickets.
8. Roller Skating
9. Trip to the Circus
10. Cooking Lessons
11. Swim Lessons
12. Fishing Trip
13. Gift Cards towards a special vacation (like Disney World, Carnival Cruise, etc.)
14. A day of bowling
15. pottery class
16. Movie tickets or a day out to the movies
17. Monster Jam experience
18. Baking or Cooking Day Kits - Great for learning to cook

Whether you live local or not, these are great ideas that you can give a child in your life instead of toys this holiday season. The biggest concern I get is the child not understanding because they are use to getting toys. Then it is our job to educate them and start the tradition. The other key with an experience gift is actually following through. If you tell them that you will take them to something, then you have to do it within that calendar year. But in the long run, both you and the child will enjoy the gift more. Creating memories is the objective here and I remember my vacations and going to car shows with my dad more than I remember the "stuff".

I'm going to share more ideas here as I think of them too.

Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below or other experiences that you think would make a great gift.
