Coupon Policies Change...& it can suck.

I went to Publix yesterday, for the first time in a while. My Publix was great to shop at because they doubled coupons, did half price BOGO, and considered Target, Kroger, & Ingles as competitors. Why they considered Target a competitor, I'm not quite sure because the closest one is about 15 minutes away. But I wasn't going to complain!

I got in check-out and had a good amount of items in my cart and I put everything on the belt (I had my daughter with me so this is never the easiest if tasks). When the cashier scanned everything and I have her my coupons, the first one she came to she said she would have to ask a manager because they no longer accept Target as a competitor. Wha...wha..WHAT?! This totally threw a wrench in my game plan. Apparently they stopped taking them since April 1st...Fool's Day indeed. :/

I am going to have to change my game plan completely when I shop at Publix and may be visiting Kroger more and more.

Here was my grocery list. Items in BOLD are what I ended up buying. Maybe you Publix accepts Target and you'll have better luck.

Teaching Smart Money Choices with Three Jar System

Saving money is fun! I was emailed about this book and thought it was such a great concept and jumped at the opportunity to share it with all of you!

Did you know April is National Financial Literacy month? It is so important to teach our children the importance of the dollar so they aren't doomed to make the same mistakes that we have made ourselves. John Lanza has created a series that helps children learn valuable money life lessons in a fun way. He also teaches parents how to teach their children what living responsibly means. And in the current economy, who can afford to not live responsibly. Below is an article that he has provided to share.

The Best Gift Ever {Shutterfly Giveaway}

I am so excited to work with Shutterly for this giveaway. As some of you may know, my sister-in-law had her first child very early this morning! I am so excited and have been scouring Pinterest looking for the perfect gift but then I realized I don't need any other site! Shutterfly is the perfect gifting destination and their Best Gift Ever Page allows you to make meaningful personal gifts that deepen connections to family and friends.

I have had the most wonderful experience with Shutterfly. My favorite coffee mug is one that says "World's Best Mother" that I received for Mother's Day last year from SweetPea (through Hubby, of course). And I love getting desk calendars for my Hubby each year so he can proudly display pictures of our family at work. I love buying photo books to share with my family and I am definitely eyeing one of those iPhone cases!

Stamp Out Hunger {Get Your Donations Ready}

Stamp Out Hunger

It’s almost time for Stamp out Hunger!

The Stamp Out Hunger food drive is a yearly event. I missed it last year, but it seems to be by far the easiest way to donate and make a difference in your community! I wanted to give y'all a head start so you can start going through your pantry and gathering up a bag (or more) to leave at your mailbox on Saturday 5/11.

It’s so easy to participate! On Saturday, May 11th, simply leave a sturdy bag containing non-perishable foods, like canned Campbell’s soups, canned vegetables, pasta, rice or cereal, next to your mailbox before the time of your regular mail delivery. Your letter carrier will then collect the donations and deliver them to food banks and pantries in your local community.

Stamp Out HungerStamp Out Hunger 2013 Get Your Donations Ready!Keep in mind that you need to make sure that food items are in non-breakable containers, such as boxes and cans. Campbell’s is a sponsor of this wonderful event. So be sure to add a few cans of Campbell’s soups to your Publix shopping list and you will make a difference to those in need in your neck of the woods.

There is no reason not to give because you just have to take the food as far as your mailbox!

Visit the HelpStampOutHunger.com website or their Facebook page for more information.

I found the information for this program at IHeartPublix.
