As parents we deserve to know the ingredients in the products we use. Did you know there are no regulations for the ingredient labeling of household cleaning products? So you have no idea about the products you use every day around your family. I have partnered with Seventh Generation because I believe the Cleaning Industry needs to #ComeClean and let us know what is in their products.
Why is Ingredient Disclosure Important?
If companies don't tell you what's inside right on the package, how do you know what you're bringing around your family and into your home? You have a right to know what goes into the products you use. Food and personal care products are required to have content labels, but there are no regulations in place for the ingredient labeling of household cleaning products - especially for the fragrances that scent those products.
Chemicals of concern can hide behind the term "fragrance" in ingredient lists on your cleaning products - chemicals that have been linked to serious health effects including allergies, asthma, cancer, and reproductive harm.

What you can do:
1. Make sure you're only using products that list their ingredients on the labels.
2. Support the Cleaning Product Right to Know Act (H.R. 5205), which requires manufacturers of both consumer household and industrial cleaning products to disclose all intentionally-added ingredients on their product labels and websites.
3. Ask your representative to support YOUR right to know!

Absolutely!! I think that we should all be using cleaning agents made with essential oils!! They are readily available and just as effective!!
ReplyDeleteI agree, we need to know what is in what we are using and eating. It's time we stand up and get as much of that information as we can.
ReplyDeleteI agree 100%. Should boycott them and use only the ones with natural ingrediants!

There are so many natural ways to clean your home. They are usually cheaper too. I would caution though they may take more 'elbow grease' or take longer. We try and stay chemical free as much as possible.
ReplyDeleteI love this. This is something I'm very passionate about. I really hate how most industries use unnecessary chemicals in everything. Especially when their is a safe, organic alternative.
