Coupon Policies Change...& it can suck.

I went to Publix yesterday, for the first time in a while. My Publix was great to shop at because they doubled coupons, did half price BOGO, and considered Target, Kroger, & Ingles as competitors. Why they considered Target a competitor, I'm not quite sure because the closest one is about 15 minutes away. But I wasn't going to complain!

I got in check-out and had a good amount of items in my cart and I put everything on the belt (I had my daughter with me so this is never the easiest if tasks). When the cashier scanned everything and I have her my coupons, the first one she came to she said she would have to ask a manager because they no longer accept Target as a competitor. Wha...wha..WHAT?! This totally threw a wrench in my game plan. Apparently they stopped taking them since April 1st...Fool's Day indeed. :/

I am going to have to change my game plan completely when I shop at Publix and may be visiting Kroger more and more.

Here was my grocery list. Items in BOLD are what I ended up buying. Maybe you Publix accepts Target and you'll have better luck.

So how did everyone else do this week? Have you ever had an unexpected turn of events with coupon policies like this?

  1. Hi! I'm a new follower popping in from Deezys Pimpin is Eezy! Sorry to hear that your Publix changed their policy BUT I have to tell you....I MISS PUBLIX!! LOVE that store!! :-)

  2. I once had a store refuse to take my $3 off coupon because the product was on sale for $2.50.
Hi I'm Dusty Katt from Dustykatt's Stuff
stopping by from the More Than Mommies Mixer to say "Hi" and follow your blog.

  3. You need to come do my shopping!

  4. I don't know why...but I hate Publix. My friends are in love like it is a cult.hahaha Maybe it is b/c the ones I have been to are in Florida and they don't allow the half price bogo or double coupons. I am glad to hear some of them do it. haha That is why I am a Harris Teeter addict, they can be super expensive otherwise, but they double up to 99 cents every day and every six weeks they double up to $2 and triple up to 99cents. Good job, love me a bargain.

  5. Very informative post! I live in Canada, though.

I've nominated you for a Liebster Award! Check it out @

  6. Wow - I never eally use coupons. I use ibotta, a cell phone app, for some discounts, but never coupons.

  7. What an absolute shame. I used to love Publix, but there is none up here. I wish stores would not change their policies like this.

I am following you from the Aloha Friday blog hop.

  8. Publix Stores are supposed to have their accepted competitors posted near the store entrance. Mine hasn't taken Target coupons in a couple of years. Although I seriously wish they would!!!

  9. Hey Diana, It was not your luck that day I guess. You did mentioned about your Spending & Savings.. How did you saved more than you spent? ;) Is that really true I mean its technically not possible

    Thanks !

Thank you for dropping by! I would love to hear what you thought. :)
