What Should You Do If You Can't Conceive?

If you have always wanted to have children, it can be devastating when you are unable to conceive. A lot of people start trying and they think that it’ll happen for them in a few weeks, but that just isn’t realistic. Everybody is different and it will take a lot longer for some people than others. But what do you do if you have been trying for a long time without success?

What Should You Do If You Can't Conceive?

Keep Trying

A lot of people panic and think that they need to seek advice from a doctor because they haven’t been able to conceive after a few months, but that is not the case and that time scale is perfectly normal. You should seek help if you are under the age of 35 and you have been trying for over a year. If you are over 35, it is a good idea to seek advice after 6 months. If you have had more than one miscarriage in a row, you will also need to speak with an expert to increase your chances of conceiving.

However, if you have not been trying for that long yet, the best thing to do is keep trying. There are a lot of things that you can do to help improve your fertility, like improving your weight, eating a healthy diet, taking fertility supplements and reducing your stress levels. For the time being, you should try to make some of these changes in your life and see if that makes a difference. But if you make it past a year and you still have not conceived, it’s time to seek help.

Book An Appointment with Your Gynecologist

If you are unable to conceive, you need to book an appointment with your gynecologist. They will discuss certain details like the frequency of your periods, any medications that you are both taking, any potential fertility risk factors, and any other symptoms that you are experiencing. They will then begin basic fertility testing on you and your partner to work out where the problem lies.

Get Your Hormone Levels Checked

Both parties involved in conceiving a child should book with a doctor, or a fertility specialist to get their hormone levels checked, to ensure everything is in check and for peace of mind. Women will want to get their progesterone hormone levels assessed, and men can explore having their testosterone levels looked into. As a male trying to conceive, if you find yourself with symptoms such as low libido, mood swings, or fatigue, then it may be worth seeking professional help from those at an ED Clinic Ashburn. At one of these clinics, you can receive testosterone replacement therapy, but also receive advice on how to increase sperm count alongside this treatment.

Find A Fertility Center

In some cases, the gynecologist may not find anything wrong and they may advise that you simply keep trying for a while longer. However, they may find that there are issues that require treatment. In that case, you need to find an Advanced Fertility Center where you can begin your fertility treatment. This treatment could range from taking a simple fertility medication all the way up to surgery if you have a structural issue in your womb.

Following basic treatment, you may be referred to a fertility clinic if the treatment isn’t effective. Here you will undergo more tests and be recommended a new course of treatment.

Consider Your Other Options

Fertility treatment isn’t guaranteed to work and there are some couples that find that they simply cannot conceive, no matter how hard they try. But this isn’t the end of the road. It’s important that you consider your other options, like adoption or surrogacy, and decide how you want to move forward.

Infertility can be devastating, but it’s important to remember that it’s not the end of the road and there are still other ways that you can start a family.

  1. You are so right!! It is devastating for a husband and wife, who want to start a family and can’t! I mean this might have been something they talked about and planned. I was blessed! I had no problems getting pregnant! I did have a couple of miscarriages, but God blessed me by letting me have a couple of healthy beautiful babies!! But I have a friend that would have given her body parts to have just one healthy baby! These situations have sadly caused divorces. Sadly though, all of the tests and implants costs a fortune!! Why? One or two more tries might have resulted in a successful pregnancy! I take this subject very hard to talk or read about!! I pinned this article. Thank you for sharing!
