When You're 21. #BehindTheBlogger

*Caution: This post is kind of sappy and make you feel all the feels. You have been warned. ;)*

My husband and I were in the car on a long road trip and we started listening to some old mix CDs from when we first started dating. They were worn from their years of age and we had to skip through a few tracks, but it got us to reminiscing.

My husband and I have been together for over a decade. We met and started dating in 2004. Then we got married in 2007. When we tell people that we have been together that long, they always say how young we look for our age. I was 21 when we got married. Once they know this, they assume we should have a nine year old. But nope, we just wanted to get married. And although I think back to that time like I was a child, I wouldn't change a thing.

Many relatives were concerned that I was jumping into a long term commitment at too young of an age. But when you love someone, you just know. Yes, I was young. But I thought I had been in head over heels love before. Not extreme like, I thought I loved him. I didn't know what love was then.

Right before I met my husband, I had decided after having my heartbroken, that I was going to be by myself forever. And then my husband came into my life. After all the butterflies had flown away, there was a deeper, richer feeling that made me know I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him.

I was 19 when we got engaged. I was still a teenager, he was still in college.  When you're this young, people think you are jumping the gun. Rushing into things. One day you'll regret it. We know some friends who are divorced now. And it makes us sad.

The key to our marriage? We have grown together. We actually kind of grew up together. I was so naive when I met my husband. We have learned so much about life. We have been on so many adventures together and to this day, we still have a lot of fun. You can't be the same person you were at 21. You just can't. Some people find that as they get older, they grow away from each other. We have had our ups and downs, like any marriage. But we have learned to communicate and work through our problems.

I love where our journey has taken us and I wouldn't change a thing.
