Thankful For Her

February of 2010 my Father was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer and given six months to two years to live. So that March my husband and I planned to conceive in hopes that he would get the opportunity to meet his first grand child. We were blessed and found out we were pregnant in April.

My grandmother who had been suffering from Alzheimer's for quite sometime, became very ill and passed away right before I was able to tell her the wonderful news. I was one of the few people she remembered and I was by her side when she passed away.

May 2010, I got into a random car accident.

That June my husband's sister got married in Florida.

As soon as we returned, my father took a turn for the worse. He passed away July 16, 2010, the day after my husband and mine's third year wedding anniversary. Time seemed to stand still. I was very close to my father.

July 27, 2010, we found out we were having a little girl. I walked out of the doctor's office and the first thing I did was get out my phone to call my dad. And then I cried. But he told me I was having a little girl in a dream a few days before. And I just knew.

Right there after, my identity was stolen. She opened multiple credit cards and I had to take time off of work to get a police report. It over two years later and there is still something on my credit report.

Then the blood pressure issues started and I was put on bed rest November of that year.

My step-mother fought with us constantly over life insurance money and I just wanted my father back. But at least he was no longer in pain.

December 8, 2010, I went to a scheduled appointment and was sent to the hospital for induction due to preeclampsia. December 9 at 2:56 p.m., my perfect 7.3lb ray of sunshine was born.

I am thankful for her. Yes, I am thankful for my husband, he is my Prince Charming. Yes, I am thankful for all the other wonderful people in my life. But this little princess saved me. She was the silver lining on that horrendous year. And every day I look at her and I can not believe that we were blessed with this beautiful, smart, amazing miracle.

  1. I knew she was the only reason you were able to make it through that year. I was so grateful you were pregnant with her, you had to stay together for her and you had something so wonderful to look forward to, a renewal of life. Love you, MOM

  2. That does sound like a really rough year, but what a great way to end it--you got your precious daughter!

  3. What a lovely story, she's perfect... and a beautiful tribute to your father :)

  5. Our little ones bless our lives in ways that they will never understand. I know that mine is the reason for living but not nearly the story of your year. It brought tears to my eyes and I hope that you have lots more happy times to live for!!!

  6. That must have been a very emotional year for you. You have a wonderful daughter to dote on every day.

  7. What a rough year! I'm so glad you had your beautiful baby girl to get you through it.

  9. Oh my. 2012 has been one of those years for us! An ectopic pregnancy, the death of my sister's mother-in-law, the death of my mother-in-law, and a failed adoption. Absolutely crazy! I love how God doesn't give us any more than we can bare but allows us to receive blessing in the end!

Thanks for sharing and for linking up with the Tuesday Baby Link Up! I hope you'll come back again tomorrow!

  10. So glad you could find the silver lining inside such a rough year! She is a cutie girl, that's for sure.
