GROW: The Whimsical, Heartwarming Fall Film Every Family Will Love 🎃

Many thanks to US Pumpkin Distribution, LLC for providing a sample of the product for this review. Opinions are 100% my own.

If your family is ready to trade jump scares for pumpkin smiles this fall, I’ve found your next must-see movie. 🍂 GROW is coming to theaters October 17, and it’s exactly the cozy, feel-good film we all need this season. Think pumpkin spice in movie form: funny, heartwarming, and full of fall magic.

About the Film

Set in the Pumpkin Capital of the World, GROW tells the story of stoic farmer Dinah Little (played by Golda Rosheuvel) and her spirited niece Charlie (Priya-Rose Brookwell). When Charlie unexpectedly comes to live with her aunt, both are forced to adjust, Dinah to this whirlwind of youthful energy, and Charlie to a life far from what she’s known.

But Charlie isn’t just any kid. She has a special gift, an almost magical connection with plants, and she’s determined to grow the biggest pumpkin the town has ever seen. With the help of quirky local gardener Arlo (Nick Frost), the plot, and the pumpkins, thicken as rival growers do everything they can to win the upcoming contest.

As their pumpkin grows, so does Charlie and Dinah’s relationship, reminding us that sometimes the family we need grows where we least expect it.

My Thoughts 🌻

From the opening scene, GROW feels like a hug in movie form. The cinematography bursts with color, the orange hues of fall, the charm of small-town life, and the coziness of harvest season. It’s whimsical without being too silly and heartfelt without being preachy.

What stood out most to me was the bond between Dinah and Charlie. Their journey beautifully mirrors the ups and downs of real-life family relationships. It’s a story about love that grows through patience, laughter, and learning to see the world through someone else’s eyes.

And can we talk about the cast? Every character is bursting with personality, from the curmudgeonly farmers to the over-the-top pumpkin rivals. The whole town feels like it stepped right out of an autumn fairy tale. Even Charlie’s giant pumpkin, lovingly named “Peter,” becomes a character all his own! 🎃

Why You’ll Love It

🍁 A perfect fall family film. GROW is a cozy, kid-friendly alternative to scary Halloween movies. It’s lighthearted, funny, and full of warmth.

🌿 Inspiring message. Charlie’s love for “wild gardening” might just have your little ones talking to their houseplants! It’s a fun, subtle reminder to care for the environment and find joy in the simple things.

💞 A story that grows on you. At its core, GROW is about connection, how love, patience, and hope can take root even in the unlikeliest soil.

🌽 Something for everyone. With its mix of humor, heart, and colorful characters, this film hits the sweet spot between children’s whimsy and grown-up meaning.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a movie night that brings the whole family together, GROW delivers. It’s tender, funny, and bursting with fall charm, an absolute must-see this October.

So, grab your pumpkin spice latte, your favorite cozy blanket, and your family, and head to theaters for GROW starting October 17.
