Many thanks to Angel for providing me the opportunity to preview A Week Away: The Series. Opinions are 100% my own.

If you’re anything like me, you love a good musical, something that makes you laugh, smile, maybe cry a little, and sing along even when you promised yourself you wouldn’t. That’s exactly what I experienced with A Week Away: The Series, now streaming exclusively on Angel.

A Week Away: The Series – A Joyful, Faith-Filled Musical Experience for the Whole Family

This brand-new musical series brings together everything we’ve loved about shows like High School Musical and Camp Rock, catchy songs, fun choreography, and camp adventures, while layering in something deeper: a heartfelt story about faith, identity, and the healing power of community.

About the Show

A Week Away: The Series takes us to Camp Aweegaway, a Christian summer camp buzzing with excitement, music, and life-changing friendships. At the center of the story is a defiant foster teen who wants nothing to do with faith or camp activities. But as the summer unfolds, walls start to break down, and he discovers he’s not alone in wrestling with grief, anger, and belonging.

This is not a “lesson in Christianity.” Instead, it’s a safe, entertaining, and inspiring series that gently raises questions many of us, teens and adults alike, have asked:

- Can God be real in a cruel world?

- Is healing even possible after pain?

- What does family look like when you’ve never had one?

It’s tender, it’s hopeful, and it’s a story that makes space for both laughter and tears.

My Thoughts

Right from the first episode, the music hooked me. Written and produced by the same talent behind Camp Rock and High School Musical, the soundtrack is packed with energy, joy, and yes, some tear-jerking ballads. I found myself tapping my foot, humming along, and then suddenly tearing up at a moment of raw honesty between characters.

This show reminded me why I love musicals, they’re not just fun, they’re powerful. By the time the credits rolled, I felt inspired, hopeful, and oddly like I’d just relived my own summer camp days.

A few highlights I personally loved:

- 🎶 Catchy songs that will stay stuck in your head (in the best way possible).

- 😂 Genuine humor that had me laughing out loud more than once.

- 💔 Authentic struggles with faith and pain, something I think a lot of us can connect with.

- 🙌 The power of found family, this resonated with me so deeply.

It really is like Disney Channel meets Bible camp, but with more heart and substance.

Why You Should Watch

- It’s a family-friendly series you can watch with your kids (and actually enjoy yourself).

- The music and choreography are top-notch, seriously, you’ll be impressed.

- It speaks to real-life struggles, making it relatable for teens and adults alike.

- It’s FUN. Just because summer is over doesn’t mean you can’t relive the joy of campfire songs and camp shenanigans.

Most importantly, A Week Away: The Series reminds us that healing is a choice, hope is real, and love can come from unexpected places.
