30+ Acts of Kindness to Celebrate the Season

Or all year long! Today is World Kindness Day. Kindness doesn't always have to be random. I think if we spread kindness around like confetti, then it genuinely would be contagious. And that is what we should show and teach our children is to show others kindness. It is something that has to be learned for some and the only way to instill it in our children is to continually show kindness through random acts. Some of these cost money, but some of these are simple and can be implemented everyday regardless of your financial situation. I challenge you to do something kind for someone today.

1. Teach a Friend How to do something new
2. Make a pinecone bird feeder
3. Pay for someone's coffee/meal behind you at the drive thru
4. Learn about someone else's religion
5. Let someone go first
6. Push in someone's chair
7. hold the door open for someone
8. Go caroling in your neighborhood
9. Leave a kind note in a library book
10. Donate food to a food pantry
11. Donate to Toys for Tots
12. Put a coin in a purse or bag at a store as a surprise for the buyer.
13. Visit someone elderly and ask them to tell you a story about themselves.
14. Bake cookies and deliver them to the nearest fire or police station.
15. Pack a shoebox for Samaritan's Purse Operation Christmas Child
16. Give a random thank you note such as "Thanks for being my friend!"
17. Invite someone you don't know very well to eat lunch with you.
18. Make a thank you card for your bus driver, librarian, or garbage collector.
19. Offer to carry something for someone.
20. Give a stranger an honest compliment.
21. Plant a tree or flowers (for the bees)
22. Participate in a Blessings in a Backpack for a child
23. Participate in The Salvation Army Angel Tree and "Adopt" a child's Christmas Wish
24. Share your umbrella with someone
25. Hand out drinks on a hot day
26. Donate scarves/blankets/hats/gloves to the homeless
27. Participate in Uber Delivers Meals on Wheels - or volunteer/donate
28. Send your hair to Locks of Love
29. Walk an elderly neighbor's dog
30. Bring in donuts for your coworkers
31. Pick up random litter you find
32. Cook someone a meal
33. Mow someone's lawn
34. Babysit or pet sit for free
35. Send a soldier a care package

Being kind doesn't mean you are a push over. Being kind means you are compassionate and caring. You shouldn’t ever feel taken advantage of while being kind. So know your limits. But showing your fellow man human kindness can feel amazing to your soul.

  1. I love this and shared, I think if we all take a minute out of our time to do something wonderful for someone else, how wonderful would things be.

  2. These are all such great ideas. I especially like the idea to visit someone elderly. I think we sometimes forget how much we can learn from someone older than us and it means so much to them to have the company.
