Being a mom of two, I have found that self-care is the most important thing. It helps you keep your sanity and helps you be a better parent as well. Because I feel that it's important, I decided to share some ways for you to find ways for self-care in your life. I have partnered with Robin McGraw Revelation for a Georgia Gift Box Review & Giveaway as well.
Tips to Self Care in Mom Life
1. Learn to Say "No". Not necessarily to your children, although that isn't a bad thing either, but to other people. If the other moms in the group volunteer at school and you don't, but you don't want or have trouble finding the time - don't worry about it. Don't make yourself feel guilty into stretching yourself too thin. If it isn't going to bring you joy, there isn't anything wrong with say "no". Plus, if you don't put too much on your plate in the first place, then you are less likely to get stressed out.
2. Seek Counseling. There is nothing wrong with getting an extra ear on your situation if you need. Sometimes you can find comfort in a friend to talk to, but then there are times when seeking a professional is the right call.
3. Pick Up a Hobby. For some, hobbies can be a way to wind down. Reading a book, knitting, gardening, cooking classes, even brewing beer at home. Find what you like and brings you pleasure. Something you don't feel any obligations about but still want to make time for.
4. Make Alone Time for Yourself. The most romantic thing my husband has ever done for me was let me sleep in on a Sunday. He woke up with the kids and made everyone breakfast. But if you need to ask for alone time, then there is NOTHING wrong with that. Everyone needs some time for themselves to re-charge their batteries. If you are single, find a friend who has kids that you can trade babysitting with.
5. Still Date Your Spouse. This is advice I have learned through trial and error in my own marriage. We went for years without making quality time for us. And it put a lot of unnecessary stress on our marriage. Even if you can't find or afford a quality sitter, there are so many awesome date night at home ideas that you can. Making time for each other and spending quality time together can actually replenish your soul.
6. Take Care of Yourself. It's the simple things that make you feel better. A nice skin care routine and putting make up on every once in a while, can make you feel like a whole new person. I have been focusing more on self-care in the past year. Exercising more regularly, dressing up for no reason, etc. I used to love dressing up and putting on makeup. At one point it was becoming more like a chore, so I stopped. Then I didn't recognize me anymore.
