What NOT To Forget In Your Hospital Bag #WhenImHungry

This post is about post-partum hunger. It is a hunger like you will never feel in your life. There is a long list of things that you need to bring to the hospital, but there is one thing that you will want to make sure you have in your go-bag when you are in the hospital after you have had your baby.

Women in my family get MEAN when we are hungry, like monster mean. When I was in labor with my daughter, I wasn't allowed to eat anything because I was induced. They were suppose to bring me a lunch plate, but by the time we got situated there were none left. But then when my labor started kicking into gear I didn't care about food. I was admitted into the hospital at 11:15 a.m. on 12/8 and she was born at 2:56 p.m. on 12/9.

I was almost immediately hungry. The hunger you feel after having a baby is like you want to eat your own arm kind of hungry. It was unfortunately too late for lunch and too early for dinner, but I didn't want anyone to leave (to go get food) because I was a nervous wreck. I had left my hospital go-bag in my own car so I had none of my snacks with me. At this point, I was getting really mean, angry, and upset. You name it I was feeling it and almost at the point of going monster-like on somebody. And then my mother-in-law pulled out a SNICKERS® from her purse and she, seriously, saved the day.

Who are you when you're hungry? I usually get hungry when I'm out grocery shopping. Why do I always leave the house at lunch time? But fortunately my local Kroger has SNICKERS® peanut butter squared and SNICKERS® almond available right at the front by the registers.

My suggestion? Grab at least 4 or 5 and keep one in your hospital go-bag, diaper bag, purse, gym bag, toiletries bag, basically any where else you might need it when hunger may strike!

And right now you can enter the SNICKERS® "Who are you when you're hungry?" contest by uploading a personal photo or video from your Computer, Facebook, Instagram or use the SNICKERS® Meme Generator to create something new! Voting begins at Noon on 5/11/15 and ends at 11:59:59AM ET on 7/15/15.

Don't forget to check out the SNICKERS® social hub for more fun stories and great SNICKERS® recipes.

Did you get mean during labor? Were you allowed to eat during labor? Who are you when you're hungry? Did you have a go-bag? Did you forget anything?

  1. LOL My daughter never had anything in her bag. She knew she was going out to lunch after her appointments, her dr never took too long to call her in, so she never encountered this problem. Me on the other hand always try to have something in my purse, I never know when my hunger will hit! LOL

    1. I never had an issue at weekly appointment either, except when I had to do any blood work. But the hunger you feel after having a baby is like no other!

    2. Oh I agree, I remember that even though it was 32 yrs ago! Funny the things you can remember and the stuff you wish you had remembered, you can't! There's so many things my daughter has asked did she do this or that and I have to be honest and say I don't remember! LOL Hurts me to tell her that, but I just don't remember it all. That's the downfall of getting old! LOL
