The Brutality of Baby Finger Nails

Interesting day today, that sent us to the doctor because Hubby got scratched in the eye.

7 Months Old! :D

Can you believe Lizzie is SEVEN months old! I can't! We weighed her on the Wii yesterday, it kept saying different things but she's around 15 pounds. She's our little sweet pea! :D She is officially mobile, although she does the army crawl. She went all the way from her room to our bedroom today. :) That's the only real update I have. Next doctor's appointment is in September, right after we come back from Florida. Next month is the family reunion where she gets to meet my extended family.

She really enjoyed her Independence Weekend:

6 Month Check Up

Can you believe it?! Half a year has gone by! Where does the time go? Technically she turned 6 months on Thursday. BUT WOW!

Today Lizzie had her check up. She weighed 14 pounds, was 25 inches long, and her head was 43 inches. I'm not sure of her percentiles. For weight and height she had been at 25 but he said her weight had dipped a little but it was fine because it was probably due to teething. Which I think it's true because she has been extra fussy and refusing to nurse. BTW it never fails when the doctor comes in the room that we are nursing.

We went and saw the other doctor last month when she was sick and he told us that the red spots she had been getting around her eyes were just because Caucasian babies get them. Well our regular doctor asked about them (because he knew she hadn't had them at birth) and said we can put vaseline on them and to make sure I keep the area clean (which I do).

She can start on stage 2 foods which is just crazy!

She also had to have FOUR shots, two in each leg and an oral. The nurse and I were talking, she was laying there happily listening to us and then that lady poked her and she SCREAMED this whimpering scream. It was the worst.

She can sit up for a long time now but can't pull herself into a sitting position, she can roll over both ways, and is scooting everywhere!

Seven Slings Carrier Review

All over the web, I saw this product advertised. I even saw other bloggers say how much they loved these carriers and that they were such fine quality. The deal was you submit a code and get a free carrier and then just pay shipping and handling.

Shipping and handling was around $12 and although that would have been a great price for a carrier in general, this carrier was seriously just a piece of fabric with instructions for how to fold the fabric different ways to make different types of slings depending how old your child is.

I can not recommend this product as I feel like for the price that would normally be charged to buyers without the promo code ($39.95 or $43.45 if you get the size exchange insurance which you WOULD need), this product should be more than just a piece of fabric.

I did not feel any relief for my back, you are still holding your child and can not truly be hands free, my daughter HATED it even if she looks happy here (notice she has her pacifier in), I was uncomfortable and so was she, and it was nearly impossible to put her in it without someone there to help me. The whole reason I wanted a carrier was so someone could hold my very clingy baby while I did laundry.

I would recommend getting a different carrier if you want hands free mobility. I unfortunately can not recommend this carrier.

Happy Memorial Day!

I hope you had a happy Memorial Day! I know we sure did. :)

Sweet Pea went on her first boat ride. We had to make sure the wind didn't get in her face but the rocking put her right to sleep.

We found out Sweet Pea's obsession with celery:

We also found out that Sweet Pea doesn't care for the lake...just like her mommy.

Sweet Pea had her first swim in the pool though and loved it! :)

Sweet Pea's First Birthday Party Invite

So today we went my friend from high school's son's first birthday party. She was in town so her family could celebrate his birthday, she currently lives in Tokyo as her husband is in the Air Force. I haven't seen her since high school but we have stayed in touch.

Anyways, I felt like I had to nurse Sweet Pea in the hall because as you might know she doesn't like a cover, and since I was uncomfortable she had a hard time latching on. So we left early but I did get to see my other good friend from high school, Jorge Mayorga who is a photographer over at J.Mayorga Photography. (Liana is his wife.) He is amazing, please go check him out. :)

And look at the beautiful pictures he took.

A fun day was had by all! :)

Five Months Old

Lizzie turned 5 months old yesterday. I can't believe it!

We got Family Pictures taken on Saturday; May 7, 2011. Click the image to view the rest of the pictures (if we are friends on Facebook.):)

Here's her on Mother's Day sitting in a big girl high chair for the second time ever all by herself. :D

And TODAY she sat all by herself! Click the image to read the milestone. :)

First Family Pictures

We got family pictures taken at Target today. Hubby didn't want to and we didn't plan on taking pictures from the waist down. But it was still fun. Sweet Pea of course didn't want anything to do with pictures but it was worth it.

And then My Not So Faves:

Lizzie's 4 Month Check In!

Exactly 4 Months Old
Lizzie's four month check up today. Weight: 12.2 pounds (25%), Height 23 1/2 inches (25%), Head 42 1/2 inches(90%!). She had to have four shots today. It breaks my heart every time. But she was a big girl! The doctor said she is doing really well. He said we could start on solid foods, cereals and stage ones. He said the longer you wait, the more food allergies they tend to have. I feel she is ready so we went by Target, bought some cereal, and gave it to her for lunch today!

Yummy at first...

Then DONE!
It was INTERESTING to say the least! :) So our little girl is good and healthy!
(These picture were actually taken the next day when she tried bananas for the first time.)

Happy 4 Months, Sweet Pea!

Happy Saturday, everyone!
So I have been using our Wii Fit for my exercise. (I also have been walking and of course doing house cleaning and taking care of the baby which regardless of what any website says, I have a flight of stairs to run up and down so it counts!)
Anyways, today my baby girl turned four months old.

So we decided to create a Mii (the people used for each player in the games) so we could weigh her each month. It's a little off because I couldn't put her exact birthday or her height but none the less I created one. (She weighs 12.2 pounds BTW! :] )
I made my husband weigh himself and see what his Wii Fit age is. He hadn't used the Wii Fit in almost two years! (And wants me to get Zumba. I refuse to bring another exercise program into this house that isn't used - we already have P90X.)
Anyways we took this picture once we made Sweet Pea's Mii.

My DH is asleep because he's so lazy and I'm looking at him annoyed! HA!

Stone Mountain for My Bday

Thanks, Momma!

Lizzie and I spent the night with my mom the night before.
We went to Target beforehand to get some snacks and stuff where I bought this cheapo carrier that sucked...or maybe I'm just bad at babywearing...
It was hard to find a spot I felt comfortable nursing. :C
I was going to feed her in the 4D theater, BUT it scared her and she was inconsolable.
My niece and nephews did the rock climb, but I had to let Caleb borrow my shoes. So my mom basically bought me an upgraded pass so I could watch the laser show. :/
I seriously felt really bad about that, but she said it was okay as long as I had a good birthday gift.
Which I did.

Still had a good time. And I finally got a good nursing session in right before the fireworks, which she just slept right through!

Fun times!

A year has gone by....

At midnight tonight (actually I think I was born at like 9 in the morning or something lol) I will be 25 years old! Quarter of a century old. Yuck...

Last year we had just started trying to have a baby, my husband gave me the best birthday party ever.

This year we have a three month old and we're going to a one year old's b-day party tomorrow. :)

Last year we were hanging out with friends every weekend and partying and drinking.

This year I drink TONS of water so I can feed my baby.

Last year I had no bed time and I would stay up late.

This year my LO goes to bed around 8:30 and if we stay up late it's because we have a grumpy, crying baby on our hands.

Life has changed so much in a year. It's so crazy to think that I had a BABY! That still blows my mind. I wonder when it won't feel so surreal anymore...

Lizzie turned 15 weeks old on Thursday.

Photobucket

I weighed her on the Wii and she weighs 11.8 pounds. She's my little munchkin. She's able to do everything she's suppose to so she's thriving and I couldn't be more thrilled. :)

Happy birthday to me tomorrow! Goodnight!

2 Month Check In

These pictures were taken on 2/9/2011:
2 Month Old Lizzie
2 Month Old Lizzie

Her newest accomplishments are (maybe I should say so far):
1- Holding her head up:

Lizzie can hold her head up!

2- Smiling:

Lizzie Smiling

3- Rolling over. She hasn't officially rolled over but the other day she was crying while I was in the bathroom and when I came out she had rolled over in her swing. So needless to stay we have to make sure we strap her in everywhere.

4- Sleeping through the night in her bassinet. She sleeps for two five hour stretches which makes me one happy momma! :)

Valentine's Day was this month and here she is all dressed up (Isn't she cute? :]):

Valentine's Day

Her 2 month check up was today (we are still behind from the ice storm). But we will be caught up by the next one. I got there early because I thought then maybe we could go back early, which we did. While we were waiting in the lobby, I had to feed her and these people sitting across from us were giving us dirty looks. I wanted to smack them. I'm feeding my baby. This is a very natural thing. Get over it. If it makes you fee uncomfortable move. There are two doctors in the practice and we saw the one we usually haven't been seeing. I didn't really care for him. She weighed 10.4 pounds (40%), 22 inches long (%25), and her head measured 40cm (%75). So she is a short, average weight baby with a big head. :) He said her spitting up wasn't reflux and he talked about the possibility of giving her food at four months....I don't know what to think about that. Well once the doctor left we waited for EVER! I poked my head out and then a nurse asked what we were waiting for, shots or to see the doctor. Then she apologized for the wait and came in. Baby girl had fallen asleep:

They had to wake her up so she could get an oral shot. And they had to give her FOUR SHOTS, two in each thigh. :C Poor baby girl cried like I have never heard. it broke my heart but I didn't cry this time! :) Which helped her get over it faster.

"There's [POOP] EVERYWHERE!"

Ah the infamous poop story. I almost forgot about it and wanted to write it down while I still remembered.

This story took place on New Year's Eve. We were going out for the first time without SweetPea. Our friend was having a party, so we decided to bring SweetPea over early so everyone could meet her and then take her to my in-laws who live right down the street.

She hadn't been going poopie and although she was being breastfed and all the sites say it's normal for breastfed babies to not go for up to 5 days (as long as they have enough wet diapers), we were still concerned so we called the doctor. The doctor said that if she didn't seem uncomfortable that we shouldnt worried but if we were we could either stick a q-tip (with vaseline and just around the edges) up there or give her a suppository.

My husband insisted on the latter and brought some infant suppositories home after work. We only gave her a little. She went almost instantly! YAY! All done....or so we thought...

I wanted to give her a bath to
A. help her tummy (why didn't I push for that before?)
and
B. I wanted her nice and fresh when she met everyone.

As soon as her tushie hit that water it all went down hill from there (no pun intended). She poopied in the tub and then we took her out and she poopied on the changing table. We put her back in the tub and she poopied again. Then we picked her up and she poopied in the towel and again on the changing table. Then we finally got a diaper on her and she poopied in that. My husband just looked at me and said "There's $#!T EVERYWHERE!"

So needless to say when we went out that night we had a new parent story to tell that only other parents can appreciate. I was also a nervous wreck, by the way, but that's another story. And now we have a story to tell her to embarrass her when she gets older as well. :)

New parent hiccups can make you embarrassed or feel like a terrible parent. I feel sad for SweetPea because she is like our training baby. She is training us how to be parents.
I read and read and read but experience seems to be the only way to learn when it comes to child rearing as each one is different.
Does anyone out there have some less than proud parenting moments? Please tell me I am not the only one...
