Summer Reading with The Big Book Adventure and Canterbury Illustrated Classics

With my son going into kindergarten and my daughter going into third grade (but reading on a fourth-grade level already), I want to keep this momentum going. So, we have been reading all summer long! If you take a look at my Summer Bucket List Ideas, it included completing a reading log.

So, I searched the web and found this printable reading log that we have been using. And the kids are earning their rewards. Y'all let me know in the comments what some good reading log reward ideas are. Maybe something from my Spectacular Summer Toy Guide? Anyways, we were sent a wonderful book from Silver Dolphin that is great for summer reading and a new spin on some awesome classics!

Easy DIY Lorax Shirt to Celebrate Dr. Seuss' Birthday & Read Across America Day

Every year my son has had a Dr. Seuss parade at his school every year to celebrate Read Across America Day. The National Education Association's Read Across America is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on March 2, the birthday of beloved children's author Dr. Seuss. Across the country, thousands of schools, libraries, and community centers participate by bringing together kids, teens, and books, and you can too! Incorporate these guides and activities to celebrate reading with young people.

Easy DIY Lorax Costume

With my daughter, my mother-in-law made a "Cat In The Hat" embroidered shirt that was pink, but with my son I didn't want to bother her so I thought I would try something homemade and easy since that's how I roll.

Flower fairies bring letters one by one to spell out the child's name, while describing character traits that make the recipient alone the perfect princess.

Tips to Help Your Child Develop a LOVE of Reading + GIVEAWAY

This interview opportunity was sponsored by LeapFrog.

It’s no secret that the earlier kids start reading, the better their chances for success in school and in life. However, according to the US Department of Education, only about half of all young children who are three to five-years old are read to on a daily basis by a family member. Getting kids to start reading earlier sets them up for better chances of success in school and life. So, what can be done to boost those numbers and have a positive impact on kids?
