Fair Trading

As most of you know I am a proud member of Bzz Agent and recently I was fortunate enough to be invited to review Green Mountain Fair Trade coffee.

First of all the coffee is a little strong but a GREAT pick-me-up. And I am excited that right now you can score an awesome deal at Kroger on Green Mountain Fair Trade coffee 12 ct K-cups!

Here's the deal:
Green Mountain Coffee 12 ct K-cups $6.49
Catalina Deal: Buy 2, Get a $2 off your next shopping order catalina
Buy 2 and Use 2 $1/1 IP Facebook coupons found HERE or $1/1 for Natural found HERE
Total after coupon & catalina: $8.98 or $4.49 each OR $0.37 PER K-CUP!

PLUS Score a FREE gift! Just enter the code you get at checkout HERE. Some people have reported getting a $10 Kroger gift card!

The reason why Green Mountain has changed to Green Mountain Fair Trading, is because they are simply that. Fair Traders. Now let's take a moment to think about what that means:

Definition of Fair Trading according to First Fair Trade Town, USA:

"Fair Trade is a tool for reducing poverty in developing nations. It's a form of trade that builds equitable and long-term partnerships between producers in developing regions of the world and consumers in the north. Fair Trade guarantees many things including the following.

Producers receive a minimum set price for their goods, financial and technical support, healthy and safe working conditions, economic development of their communities, and educational opportunities for their children.

Consumers receive excellent products plus the peace of mind that comes with knowing they are actively addressing poverty, preserving the environment, and promoting an end to child labor.

The planet receives a chance at health and healing since Fair Trade actively promotes sustainable farming techniques, biodiversity, and bird and animal habitat preservation."

Grace Potter and Michael Franti are helping spread the word about how important Fair Trade is through source trips and right now if you visit Green Mountain's Facebook Page, you can get an idea of what they are doing by watching LIVE-STREAMING of their concerts.

Now that you know a little more about Fair Trading, what are your thoughts? Are you going to make an effort to buy products that are produced through Fair Trading? Do you want companies to have to prove their Fair Trading status on their labels? Please share you thoughts on the topic.

Publix Trip - 10/19 - 88% Savings!

Seriously how strange is this weeks haul? It's such a random mixture. A few things you must know:

1. We had plans to go out to eat with my in-laws so my husband took me to Publix.
2. It wasn't our normal Publix and they don't take Target as a competitor.
3. I had a $5/$40 Publix coupon that expired TODAY and I couldn't let it go to waste.
4. I thought we would be going before we ate, so I didn't bring any coupons for refrigerated items.

With all that said, I am planning to go again before this sale ends.

Weekly Totals: Publix 10/12 68% Savings

I'm playing catch up today. My friend and I planned to go out to eat then to Publix and then back to my house to watch a movie with the little ones. We didn't watch the movie but still a lot of fun was had by all. The girls never want to stay in the carts anymore. So they were terrorizing the store. But they are allowed since they are almost 2, right? I did get to do the P&G Bakeware rebate as well. Saved a total of $146.89. :)

Anyways, Saturday I went to the North Georgia State Fair with my in-laws. SO MUCH FUN! Hubby couldn't go which I am REALLY bummed about. We were gone all day. Then last night I stayed up to late trying to play catch up on house work.

We met Junior & Willie from Swamp People. Too cool, right? :)

Just went to Kroger this week (there was nothing I was interested in getting from Publix) and I thought I would be able to get a picture this week but, alas, again I failed. Anyways, We went late last night to Kroger. So it was the last sale day AND it was a Saturday which has to be like the worse day to go. Anyways, I wanted to get Mott's Snack n' Gos BUT they were out at two stores (my husband says the were out at the warehouse, they had been out his store all week long) and it was this HUGE ordeal to get a rain check which I can't go into but I did finally get my rain check and that's all that matters.

I also had coupons for free nestle pure life waters that were on the mega so I decided to not get a few things because I had to buy ten. See they lost money because of people like me. Did I mention how much I dislike mega events? I am however excited for the 50% sale that started today.

I think I did pretty good even if I do say so myself! :) I wanted to get the Brach's candy but they were CLEANED out and it was only the second day of the sale! Also on the way home, there was a crazy car accident and this guy tried to run and people chased him down and beat him up then a person had to be pulled out of the car and put on a stretcher. So another week down. I still have my FREEbie Friday list to get up for you all and I have some awesome giveaways coming up that I am SUPER excited about. And if you have been following my posts on Facebook then you already know who they are from! Anyways, today's Kroger trip was awesome. The kiddos feel asleep in the car on the way there so Hubby stayed in the car with them and I get everything I wanted, still talked to the cashier and a friendly shopper, and finished in record time. Funny how different a shopping trip can be when you don't have any little ones with you.

Anyways, on to the Savings! I didn't get a picture of this trip because once again the little ones devoured my attention but that's okay because they are more important...no offense. 20 months and 8/9/12 Kroger trip

So I have a 20 month old as of yesterday! I still can't believe with each month going by how big she is and how much she can do. She is absolutely amazing. I love her so much. Time seems to go by so fast with children.

So yesterday we also went to Kroger. It started raining while we were in the store and not only did me, hubby, and sweet pea go but we also had my friend's daughter (who I take care of) with us as well. So getting all the groceries in the car and the two little ones was a big ordeal. So we only saved 45% but this was our time to get things we needed like produce and dairy items. I also needed paper products as well because my HUGE stockpile of toilet paper was depleted. I also didn't manage to snap a picture because we were trying to get both little ones in the house and everything put away before my in-laws came over for dinner. But here is the break down of what I bought:

Kroger Napkins = $1.67
Bounty Paper Towels $5.99 x 2 - 2 $1 coupons = $9.98
Powerade $0.59 x 15 - 5 B2G1 FREE coupons = $5.90 or $0.39 each
Kroger Whole Milk = $2.50
Tennessee Pride Sausage Biscuits $6.99 x 2 - 2 $1 IPs = $11.98
Fresh Express Garden Salad - $0.40 coupon from mailer = $2.29
Cucumbers x 2 = $1
Charmin 12 pk Toilet Paper $5.99 x 2 - 2 $1 = $9.98
Kroger Tuna x 4  = $3
Kroger Bacon Bits x 2 = $3.97
Kroger shredded cheese x 2 - $0.70/2 coupon from mailer = $6.72
Kroger sliced cheese - $0.40/1 from mailer = $2.10
Stayfree pad 2/$4 - $2 from 7/22 SS = FREE
Rubbermaid Sandwich Kits $5.99 x 2 - $1.50 IPs = $8.98
Kroger bread = $1
Kroger Large Eggs = $2.69

Total after coupons = $64.25
Total Saved = $57.30

53% savings. Over budget but got things to help save money in the future like the sandwich kits so hubby can bring his lunch. :) Going to also try and submit for this P&G rebate, I think I bought enough. :/ Remember, we get an employee discount. The mailer coupons are from the Kroger home mailers that everyone can get when you sign up for a Kroger Plus Card. Each mailer comes with different coupons specifically for your family's needs.
