Organizing the Playroom Marie Kondo Style + Giveaway

So if you have been purging and finding all of your items that bring you joy, then you might have Marie Kondo to thank for it. About two months or so before Christmas, I decided to purge all things in our playroom. My mom had come to visit so she could come to grandparents day at the kiddos' school and since she can't drive very well especially long distances, she asked if she could stay at our house. This way, she also got to see my son play a baseball game and watched my daughter at cheerleading practice too. After that visit, we decided that she needed to come stay more so she can enjoy her grandchildren. I learned that we needed a spare bedroom with a bed. My mom slept on the couch the entire time she was here and it made my husband feel like he couldn't watch tv (I have no idea why).

I have been considering getting rid of the playroom for a while. My husband finally got on board when he realized how little the kids actually used it. They always play outside and when they do play with toys, they bring them in the living room anyways. The main issue with why the playroom always stay messy was simple: my kids had too many toys. So we sold some, gave some away, and donated the rest. It felt amazing to purge all the things and my kids liked knowing they were going to a better home.

We bought this bed on Amazon. I had a mattress from Tomorrow Sleep already. And then I was sent some sheets from California Design Den. The ones I received were luxurious, 400-thread-count king-size sheets, which are made simply and ethically. These 100% cotton sheet sets feature durable construction and are made to last. California Design Den creates every set of long-staple, deep pocket sheets using pure cotton yarns. Because they are crafted with natural fibers, they are more comfortable and breathable than microfiber, silk, or satin sheets. The cotton is combed to filter out impurities and ensure superb strength, and each set of king bed sheets is stitched by a skilled artisan, then inspected by hand to ensure the utmost quality. Their fitted sheets feature top-quality elastic and a SmartTag, so they’re also easy to slip on and off. A sateen weave offers a polished finish and revolutionary new dyes mean lush, lasting color. From pure white sets to elegant black bed sheets, this 400-thread-count set is perfect for any palette and d├ęcor. Every set is individually made in an award-winning, state-of-the-art factory and undergoes multiple product checks to ensure it is perfectly comfortable, well-crafted, and flawless.

My mom hasn't slept in the bed yet, but I did when I was sick with the flu and was trying to avoid getting my husband sick. These sheets feel amazing. And what I love is how affordable they are. Unlike some super soft sheets, they are very breathable and don't get hot at all.

  3. I'm all for weeding out stuff you no longer use and donating those things, but I think Marie Kondo goes too far. A lot of people are getting rid of things I think they'll regret losing. I really like California Design Den's Mod Lodge pattern, with the deer. My nephews would like that.

    1. Her idea is all about if it doesn’t bring you joy. Some people enjoy 4,000 books on their shelves (like me) and that’s okay. I think it also depends on an income issue. I use to save stuff because we might need it some day, now I just get rid of it and if I truly need it then purchase it again. I like to look that I’m helping others who I give it to as well.

  10. I have never done a purge, at least not intentionally! The sheets are beautiful, I love only cotton sheets. Colors are all right, not complaining, but I want bold, bright colors.
