10 Reasons Why Team Sports are Essential for Kids

This past fall, my husband and I put both of our children in sports. My son played baseball and my daughter was a cheerleader for a football team. They both loved it. This Spring, my son is playing baseball again and my daughter is trying softball. It is always so busy during the season, but we love it. And here are some reasons why I think having your child participate in team sports is essential.

Here are just a few of the many benefits that your child can enjoy when they participate in a team sport:

Football Cheerleading & Competition Season Fall 2018

So we did cheerleading this past fall. If you haven't been following along on Instagram, please make sure you do. I share so much more over there in my stories. But I thought I would share some of the highlights from this past season. We had amazing coaches who we are going to miss if they decide not to coach again. Everything was so well organized with them too. They are all teachers so they were naturally great with the kids.

We cheered for the Locust Grove Falcons. We had two competitions and they won for their age division plus the coaches won as well. We also had to make a banner for the football players to run through at homecoming and the cheerleaders got little tiaras and sashes. It was so cute.

Pigskin Rapture: Four Days in the Life of Texas Football by Mac Engel and Ron Jenkins is a first-ever, one-of-a-kind, 360 degree look at the athletic and cultural phenomenon that is Texas football, and launched the new Lone Star Books imprint this fall. In a magical four-day period in autumn 2015, both of Texas’s NFL teams played at home on different days (Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans and New England Patriots at Dallas Cowboys), a major high school rivalry was set for Friday night in West Texas (Midland Lee at Odessa Permian), and a fierce regional rivalry came to the Cotton Bowl on Saturday afternoon (Oklahoma vs. Texas).

Peanut's 1st Braves Game {Wordless Wednesday LINKY}

Friday my husband got some tickets through work so we took the kiddos to the Braves game. It was Peanut's first National League Baseball game. The weather was cold and a little rainy, but Hubby ended up catching a foul ball and then a Cardinals fan gave us one of the free bobble heads. Plus they had Friday Night Fireworks. AND the Braves won!
